It’s a great story. I think that what the story is trying to tell you is right, but sadly some people think that it is wrong. If you are a boy you can wear a dress!! If you are a girl you can wear boys clothes!

The story was hilarious for me to read. It was funny when Dennis wore a dress . I liked how he tried his best and won a match.

The boy in the dress is about a boy that gets suspended for pretending to be a girl and gets expelled from his school but what he does not notice is that they need him for the football match and notices that the headmaster actually pretends to be a girl.

I think, I *think*, David Walliams was trying to write a book that was kind and inclusive, it’s just that he’s really bad at it.

Dennis wears a dress but only when disguised as a girl, he can’t just wear a dress and be happy about it. Plus it’s fine because he’s awesome at football and fancies a girl. It’s not like he’s gay or anything. He just wants to wear a dress, okay? Spoiler alert: the male headteacher also wears a dress on a Sunday morning to fetch the papers and Dennis uses that fact to bribe the headteacher because if Dennis tells people, the headteacher will be a laughing stock. What? Why? I thought we were being inclusive of males who want to wear dresses? But definitely not LGBTQ+ people or class or racial stereotypes. Just the very specific situation where a young boy, who is awesome at football and very manly, wants to disguise himself as a girl. That’s the only thing that’s fine.

The fat white lorry driver, the south Asian who runs a newsagent and the overbearing south Asian mother are awful perpetuations of stereotypes and the handling of Dennis’ friend Darvesh and his patka made me cringe so much I felt sick. “I just wear this funny thing on my head”. My god! It’s so bad. I really do think he was trying to give out a positive message but that’s not how it was received by me.

Truly awful. But then, he was a writer for Little Britain so I suppose that fits.
