William is scared of the place under the stairs. He is absolutely sure there’s a great big and probably hungry grizzly bear lurking there. He is utterly convinced that the bear will gobble him up if he doesn’t feed it. This title helps you find out what happens when a nastly smell pervades the house and Mum and William decide to investigate.

This was not my favourite picture book I have read. I wasn’t particularly a fan of the images and the story didn’t keep me interested. One positive point I can think of is that it is good for highlighting to children that somethings they are afraid of might not be real.
Although I enjoyed this book, I found the plot quite boring. I like that William the little boy was saving food for the bear under the stairs, however he didn’t actually get to see him as the bear snuck out when William’s mum said that he wasn’t real. I thought William meeting the bear would have been nice.
I liked reading the rhyming bits to my baby, but I thought the ending was quite underwhelming. There were nice pictures in the book though
A really good book. It was fun. I liked the bear the best. I would recommend to others to read.
