It’s London, 1876 and Hetty Feather is just a tiny baby when her mother leaves her at the Foundling Hospital. The Hospital cares for abandoned children – but Hetty must first live with a foster family until she is big enough to go to school. Life in the countryside is hard but with her ‘brothers’ Jem and Gideon, she plays imaginary games.

Jacqueline Wilson is one of my favourite authors and I really loved this book!
Hetty Feather is a amazing book about the life of Hetty Feather and how she copes with her life
Hetty is my favourite book character
Liked this but not my favourite
Hetty is a foundling who lives in the Victorian era. She suffers hardship at the foundling hospital but tells stories to the other girls from a magazine her friend Ida, the cook, gave her.
Her friend Polly gets adopted so Hetty is alone. But on the day of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, Hetty runs away and meets Miss Smith who helps her then takes her back to the hospital.
At the end, Hetty discovers who her true mother is.
I recommend this book to people who like history or orphans/foundlings.
I love Jaqueline Wilson’s books, but this was on a whole new scale of amazing
I really like Hetty Feather because I like her adventures.
I loved this book
A good book. Travel into Hettys life in the Victorian era. Follow her as she searches for her Mum and goes and makes friends along the way. Good for ages 7+. I really enjoyed reading this book. I liked the description of Matron Stinky Bottomly.
I liked this book a lot. It's about someone that goes to a boarding school and when they grow up they have to be workers (in hotels and stuff). My favourite character was the main character called Hetty Feather because she's so funny!
I liked how in the end, hetty found her real mother. My favourite character was Polly. This is a great book.
It’s about a girl who is abandoned when she is a baby and finds her mother 10 years later.
I like the book hetty feather because she is on a search for her real mother and then finds out that a women from the foundling hospital who has given her better treatment then the rest tells her she is her mother and her real name is sapphire Battersea
I loved this book because it was so funny, emotional and it was written my my favourite author ever !
. my favourite character was probably Ida because she was so kind and caring towards Hetty. At the end of the book, something very surprising happens and it was such an unbearable cliff hanger as well.
I really loved this book because it was an amazing, sometimes heart breaking adventure of Hetty Feather . I would recommend this to 8-12 readers.
My favourite character is Polly because she super smart and fun.
I think it is a good book but little bit dramatic at times like when her mum went undercover as a kitchen maid to see hetty and got found out at the end.
I would recommend this book to people that like books like dork diaries and readying fiction diaries
It describes how harsh it can be if you're all by yourself in a hospital or being a servant. It makes you feel sorry for her.
This book was very fascinating, as it teaches you about life in those times, and how people were treated in foundling hospitals, and the difference between living with money and without. I also like the adventure that the foundling children get to go on-Queen Victoria the 1st jubilee -as it makes the life of a foundling less harsh. In my opinion, the best characters in this book are Hetty Feather and Madame Adeline. Hetty is my favourite because she doesn't let the sadness of the Foundling Hospital down-heart her morale.
I would recommend this book to people who wish to learn more about the Victorian era.
This book was amazing ! I love the detail and the emotions throughout the book, I love how Jacqueline Wilson did this as a series Following on by sapphire battersea and emerald star , and diamond!
My favourite character was sapphire/hetty/emerald that’s the same people!

Young hetty feather has started her life in the founding hospital
This is the first book from the Hetty Feather series by Jaqueline Wilson. It is a fiction book based on real life. It's based on Victorian times. There is actually a real foundling hospital museum. It's about a girl called Hetty who is trained to be a servant. I would recommend this book to people age7+ who like adventure books. And are really good at reading.
