Set in 1950's Iran, Women Without Men is still banned there and the author was imprisoned for writing it. It tells the story of 5 women and how they come to share a home for a while which gives an interesting insight into life in Iran, especially for women. Magical realism features quite a bit but blends into the narrative seamlessly.
