Charlie Davis is in pieces. At seventeen, she’s already lost more than most people lose in a lifetime. But she’s learned how to forget it through cutting; the pain washes out the sorrow until there is nothing but calm. She doesn’t have to think about her father or what happened under the bridge. Her best friend, Ellis, who is gone forever. Or the mother who has nothing left to give her. Kicked out of a special treatment center when her insurance runs out, Charlie finds herself in the bright and wild landscape of Tucson, Arizona, where she begins the unthinkable: the long journey of putting herself back together.

I've read other books by Kathleen Glasgow, but none hit me hard like this. Charlie's struggles are so relatable, and the way she's written makes me stand behind her, no matter what, like the type of character who seems so real, you feel as if you really get to know her, like a close friend. The writing style is so personal, and the message is something that many people treasure. The other characters reflect different personalities of people around this topic, and it really shows the effects of early life trauma. The storyline is well paced, and the different scenarios we find the characters in are so lifelike, so human.

This book is something I never knew I needed, and it left me thinking about it long after I had read the final page. The fact it doesn't have chapters is something I enjoyed, meaning the text isn't split into parts where something finishes and something ends, instead, it's split into 3, each with significant events.

Overall, this book is just amazing, and I really would recommend it to anyone who wants to be seen, who wants to feel understood. It's something you'll read and never want to let go.

The best book I’ve ever read, so good I would recommend it and I’m definitely reading it again!

It was okay, yet it felt very drawn out and some chapters and descriptions felt unnecessary.
The story felt well made and calculated and you get to understand the characters well. I felt the ending didn’t give some of the characters what they deserved.

It was a really good book that covered self harm and menatl illness in what i would say is a beautiful, poetic, realistic way. the writing style was beautiful and amazing, the ending was amazing, made me smile a lot. but the about 2/3rds of the book was rough and intense at some parts. i am looking forward to reading kathleens other books.

This was a really good book written in short paragraphs which made it easy to dip into. I was pleased to see a character (Charlie) that is not always represented in media. It explored mental health issues and self harm in an honest way.
