Sequel to the New York Times bestseller Amari and the Night Brothers!
Artemis Fowl meets Men in Black in this magical second book in the New York Times bestselling Supernatural Investigations trilogy, soon to be a major movie starring Marsai Martin. Perfect for 8+ fans of Percy Jackson and Nevermoor. After finding her brother and saving the entire supernatural world, Amari Peters is convinced her first full summer as a Junior Agent will be a breeze. But between the fearsome new Head Minister’s strict anti-magician agenda, fierce Junior Agent rivalries, and her brother Quinton’s curse steadily worsening, Amari’s plate is full. So when the secretive League of Magicians offers her a chance to stand up for magiciankind as its new leader, she declines. She’s got enough to worry about! But her refusal allows someone else to step forward, a magician with dangerous plans for the League. This challenge sparks the start of the Great Game, a competition to decide who will become the Night Brothers’ successor and determine the future of magiciankind. The Great Game is both mysterious and deadly, but among the winner’s magical rewards is Quinton’s last hope . . . so how can Amari refuse? TweetReviews
Amazing very good bit sad but amazing. same fave charector.
I won this in a competition so had to read the first one - and I was appalled I had taken so long to read it!
This second book is just as good.
Amari is back! It's just before her first Summer School as a Junior Agent.
But, suddenly, she is uninvited. The whole of the Supernatural Congress is frozen whilst in the middle of a conference. Deputy Bane and Director Harlowe suspect a magician.
They go all out to persecute the magicians. Amari and her brother's partner Maria (who was outed as a magician in book1) are banned from the Bureau until Lara (Maria's sister) and Elsie (Amari's best friend) get up a social media campaign to get them brought back in.
Amari and her friends can't understand why there seems to be no investigation happening.
She, Maria, Elsie and Lara need to find out why and solve it because Cozmo, the spokesman for the Magicians League, wants Amari to wear the Vladimir Crown and go to war against the Bureau. But when she asks for more time he takes drastic action to get another candidate for the Crown and start the Great Game...
Maria doesn't want her to do this. Can she win? Who is the opponent? And who froze the Congress, how and why?
Utterly brilliant as is the first book....next please Mr Alston!
A good book
I like Elsie, she is so creative
I think it is important to read the first book, Amari and the night brothers, first.
Amari Peters is a magician, one of the most magical beings in the world! When time freezes and the magical Prime Minister also freezes, the room the Prime Minster was in does not unfreeze, so a person who hates magicians becomes Prime Minister. A secret magician offers Amari and Dylan the magician crown to start a war against everybody who is not a magician.
The main characters of this book are Dylan - a bad magician, Amari - a good magician, Elsie - Amari's best friend and the league of magicians. This book is set near a magical store.
The adventure and mystery in this book make you want to keep reading.

This book was a great follow on I enjoyed Amari's journey. Yes i would definitely recommend.
I love the tension and then relief. The sudden changes and the fact that its never normal.
It's so interesting, I got me so intrigued. I loved it , especially when amaris Best Friend 'Elsie' Became a Dragon!
A great fiction novel about magic and mystery. Thrilling exciting and unputdownable. Highly recommended.
That it was really good and I loved Dylan. Elsie always had great inventions. Once you had read the first book it spoiled it a bit as you knew the teachers wanted her demoted and the big villain was gone.
Second in the series. Excellent, had me hooked and was everything I expected from the quality of the first one.
This was a great sequel to the first book in the series and I can’t wait to see where it goes next.
I love this book because there is a boy named Dylan and he escapes from the sightless depths so he does the great game with Amari. It was very exciting.
The perfect new series for everyone who has already read their way through Hogwarts and Nevermore. A fantastic and resonant world with high stakes, exhilarating twists, and a truly incredible heroine
