In this book, Justice goes to a new school called Highbury House, and a maid has died of pneumonia, but Justice thinks she was murdered. A teacher called Miss Thomas is killed, then a girl called Helena Bliss who is the head girl is killed. They find out at the end that Matron killed Miss Thomas because once when Mis Thomas was the games teacher, she rescued Justice's friend Rose's mum from a snowstorm but left Matron's daughter who died. Matron injured Helena because she thought she was Rose, to get revenge. Helena was there in a dark tunnel in the night because she was meeting the French teacher, who she was in love with.

I love this book it’s a murder mystery book so it’s always got a plot twist and I was on the edge of my seat when it ended. “School is murder but justice is on the case!” After the tragic death of her mother, justice is sent to boarding school and realises something is suspicious!

I loved this book and so did the children in my class. It’s great that Elly Griffiths has honed her detective/mystery writing skills for KS2 children. The main character - Justice is an enviable character who despite her own problems in life, still shows strength, determination and positivity. A whodunnit that gets you hooked from the start!

I loved this book, It took me back to the days of Elizabeth Allen - The Naughtiest Girl in School by Enid Blyton, but added the twist of a crime drama.
I found that I never wanted to put it down and have ordered another book in the series.

I have already recommended it to one of the library book groups.

This is a gripping adventure set in Highbury House School for the Daughters of Gentlefolk. Justice who has recently lost her mother is sent to boarding school in the middle of nowhere. Things take a drastic turn when a maid dies and people start to go missing. Despite the dangers and warnings Justice and her new friends set off to investigate. Can they find the truth? This book had me hooked. I actually read book 3 first and enjoyed it. But having now read the first book it makes more sense to have the full back story. I’m looking forward to starting book 2.

I’ve really enjoyed Elly Griffith’s adult fiction, and I’m constantly on the search for alternatives to Robin Stevens as I struggle to keep her books on the shelves.
A fun read setting up a brand new series.

Brilliant murder mystery ! Stella is so nice and matron so horrible.

It was really wierd when Miss. Thomas broke her neck. I also think that when Rose's mum was 12, Miss. Thomas shouldn't have given up the search once she had found Rose's mum, Selina, because then Dilys, Matron's daughter , wouldn't have died of hypothermia, and then everything wouldn't have gone bad.
