The classic fight between pigs and wolves as you’ve never seen it before! A subversive and hilarious take on the well-loved fairy tale.
The three little wolves erect first a solid brick house. The big bad pig comes along and when huffing and puffing fails to work, he uses a sledgehammer to bring the house down. Next they build a home of concrete: The pig demolishes it with his pneumatic drill. The three little wolves choose an even stronger design next time round: They erect a house, made of steel, barbed wire, armor plates and video entry system, but the pig finds a way to demolish it too. It is only when the wolves construct a rather fragile house made of cherry blossoms, daffodils, pink roses, and marigolds that the pig has a change of heart … A great read for children who enjoyed The Wolf’s Story by Toby Forward. Kids aged 5 and up will enjoy this hilarious, subversive and brilliant read aloud picture book. This book is funny and a little bit strange. Big Bad Pig turned into a good pig because he smelled the flowers - it sounds strange
Brilliant book that kept the children in my class hooked. They loved the fact that the big bad pig was able to use a pneumatic drill!
i like in the end of the story the big bad pig becomes friends with the three little wolves
I would recommend it as it’s a good story. There are more materials in it to build houses.
The Three little wolves and the big bad pig is a spin on the classic fable The three little pigs, with a bit of role reversal.
In the classic story the pigs build their houses out of straws sticks and bricks. However in this version the wolves meet a number of characters including a kangaroo, beaver, rhino and a flamingo who all help out with a variety of house building materials. The materials include bricks, concrete, barbed wire, metal padlocks and iron bars, until finally flowers are the key to building a house that pig will not destroy!
The story was very humorous and I think would appeal to children. Instead of the houses being blown down by pig, he would find inventive (though mean) ways of destroying the houses the wolves had built, including pneumatic drills, dynamite and sledgehammers! I enjoyed seeing what plan/method bad pig was going to use next to knock down and destroy the very sturdy houses that the wolves had made.
After all the chaos of bad pig destroying the houses there was a nice ending to the story. Pig realised how horrible he had been to the wolves and began to play nicely with them. Although the wolves thought this was another of pigs tricks at first they played along nicely and invited pig into their flower house where he accepted their invitation of living together.
An amusing read and a happy ending once bad pig had changed his ways.
This is a fun book. It is really nice.
A bit long
Funny story with a big demolition and explosion the pig blew the iron house down
A good alternative view to the three little pigs and the big bad wolf.
The book introduces some vocabulary which may be unfamiliar to some children which promotes good discussion.
The book ends well with change of character in the big bad pig.
I really liked this book because the ending was better than the traditional story because the big bad pig changed to be a nice character at the end.
I liked this book because it made me laugh. I liked it when the big bad pig blew up the house
A very interesting story
I liked the wolves getting their tails burnt!
