I just star reading this book and I hope to enjoy it because the plot it is interesting.

Fantastic short story

I enjoyed this book. It was a Quick Read books, because I don't like long books.

It was based on a factual murder, but fictionalised by adding characters and occurrences, and bringing the case to life. It's the first book by this author that I have ever read.

It took place in 1908, and was basically about the murder of Caroline Luard in a village in Kent. It is about the police investigation, the people of the village and what is on the surface is not always the same as underneath.

I really enjoyed this book, and would recommend it.

I love reading Minette Walters and this quick read book was based on a real case. The writing, as usual, was excellent. The story unfolded clearly and logically. I could identify the background history from other books - both fact and fiction - and studying I did for a history course I completed in 1978. The author clearly outlined what was recorded fact and what she had taken some liberties with. I recommend this author and the quick read titles are ideal for those who don't have as much time to read as they would like.

This book wasn't my kind of read but still a interesting and complex book.

Mrs Caroline Luards is shot dead in broad daylight. Her husband, Major General Charles is the first suspect; but without enough evidence, superintendent Albert Taylor started to explore new pistes.
Two suspects found but nothing came out.
Could M.Luard cope with the lost of his wife and the animosity of the people?
This book is based on a real story taken place in 1908.

This was an excellent Quick Read title which was a very well written account based on a true case. Highly recommended.
