Much better than I expected it to be even though it's definitely a Boys Own Adventure story set (eventually) on the high seas. There's a lot of detail about, well, everything. And way more detail about whales and whale massacre than I ever really wanted to know. But overall it's well structured, well written, quite drily witty and a good old swashbuckling tale.

This is a classic book, and it's one of the best books I've EVER read. If there was a 6 star button then this would be one of the only reviews where I click that button.
