My Name is Jodie Jones by Emma Shevah - Books and a pack of goodies

For Young people

David Fickling Books is delighted to offer YA book clubs the opportunity to read and review a highly original story exploring coming-of-age, language and hidden trauma, with a whipsmart, complex and unforgettable protagonist.

Trigger warning: This novel inherently deals with grief, trauma, neurodiversity and particularly parental abuse, and so we would want relevant book groups to be aware of this in advance.

Suitable for children 12+

Each selected group will receive:

- 4 x copy of the book
- Discussion and reading guide
- Pack of cups and plates
- Snacks and vouchers for soft drinks
- Posters
- Bookmarks

The publisher would love to receive photos and feedback about any activities and events that you have as well as reviews of the book from members of your book club.

More about the book

Jodie Jones is obsessed with words. Yet she can’t find the ones to say what happened that day five years ago, with her mum, on the bridge. Struggling in school and at home, she takes comfort in her safe places: her books. Her best friend. And her brother’s friend, Moses – who makes her feel something new.

But when hidden family truths come to light and life starts to implode, can Jodie Jones find the words she needs to save herself? A compelling, witty, moving love letter to the magic of words.
