A lovely story about love and empathy.
A wonderful story of love and friendship. Edward learns so many life lessons that many people will relate to. A truly heart-warming story.
Very late to the party with this one. Was recommended by one of my class in September 2023 but didn't get round to reading it. A beautiful story with real emotion. I will need to pay that pupil a visit when we go back so we can blether!
A beautiful story of hope, despair and devotion as told through the eyes of a China rabbit and its many owners. The rabbit’s misfortune sees it fall overboard, end up in rubbish dump and have its head cracked to 21 pieces before a happy ending with its original owner. The varied and unique characters on this journey make it a real joy to read and it is filled with great emotions.
I love this book and have read it many times. It is a story of a china rabbit who goes on a miraculous journey - not only physically but mentally and emotionally too. A great book for developing children’s empathy.
What a modern classic! Emotion at every corner and a book with a ‘just one more chapter’ feel. Just brilliant
This tale is incredible and I found the transformation of the main character (Edward) beautiful.
I loved this book! The story was beautifully told and in an engaging style. The reader is taken on a journey full of ups and downs as the characters navigate their emotional journeys. Edward grows up and comes to a better understanding of life, love and friendship.
This book is about a rabbit doll who has a wonderful journey. The story of meeting different people is very exciting, so i recommend this book
I adored this book! Full of adventure, promise and a really good emotive book about love. The ending is very special. Another book I couldn’t put down!
This is a heart-warming book about an ungrateful china rabbit who takes meaningful journeys across America when he is thrown overboard on a cruise trip. He learns the value of friendship, love and appreciates the kindness from strangers. It's funny at parts and a book you won't regret reading!
This is a very good book and I was in tears when Sarah-Ruth died, and the end as well which I won't spoil but it was so sad. I also remember reading this in my class for the English subject in Year 4 and my Year 4 teacher said he cried reading it in the Summer holidays and he even got a tear in his eyes reading it for the class!
Echoes of The Velveteen Rabbit. Beautifully written with an engaging narrative, but a little too sentimental and circular for my taste. Perhaps reading the illustrated book would be more satisfying - I read this on an ipad.
Beautifully written and illustrated. I couldn't put this down!
My first thought was that this must be a bit of a fairy story when the beautifully dressed rabbit named Edward Tulane is introduced. He is a bit of a character and has ideas above his station. However, the story evolves and we get to see a very different rabbit as time goes by.
The book has an old fashioned feel; the language is quite 'proper' and the words are well considered and put together beautifully. The illustrations are muted, pencil sketches with details, when needed, to emphasise that part of the story. This looks and feels like a classic.
This was such a fantastic book, both myself and my class thoroughly enjoyed it. Such an emotive and gripping story, with the main character really going through an emotional transformation as the novel progressed. Strong themes of family, belonging, class, love and loss were seen throughout and I shed a little tear when I finished it! Would highly recommend this book to children aged 8/9 and above and adults as well!
I loved this book. I liked the way the author wrote the book because it really kept my interest. i liked reading about all the adventures of Edward the bunny. I recommend it to everyone.
This is a fantastic book. Each chapter a little story of its own but all interlinked at the same time.
A beautiful and captivating tale about great love and tragic loss. You definitely feel a wave of emotion as you travel through the narrative with the ameliorated china rabbit. Once you begin the journey, you'll want to see what happens next. A must read!
It was a beautiful story exploring the relationships and bonds made between a china rabbit and people from a range of backgrounds and experiences. The story is told from the perspective of the rabbit who begins his story as a self centered character who doesn't return his owner, little Abilene's, love. His journey takes the reader through a captivating tale of great love and tragic loss, filled with suspense. It makes you appreciate what you have and the story end is very satisfying too as Edward is finally reunited with his sweet Abilene many years later, a changed china rabbit.
The book was interesting because he was a toy rabbit and he went everywhere because he was lost. After some time he found his owner.
As a teacher I read this as I will be teaching it in my Year 5/6 class next term. I hope they love it as much as I did!
I liked the main character the best. Yes,I would recommend.
Edward a superior, and superlatively vain, china rabbit loses his life of privilege and is jettisoned overboard into the depths of the Atlantic Ocean. After a journey with many challenges and changes of owner he begins to appreciate the value of heart(h) and home. 'The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane builds on 'The Velveteen Rabbit' (he is three feet tall and anticipates Russell Hoban's 'The Mouse and his Child'. I recommend this beautifully-crafted book to confident readers aged 9+.
This was beautifully written and had a lovely message about the importance of love.
Absolutely yes! A book about feelings and a beautiful journey of self-awareness
I really enjoyed this book and thought it gripping throughout. The chapters were nice and short so that I could read it in short bursts more regularly.
Edward belongs to a girl called Abilene. Abilene and her family
go on a ship. Edward falls off the deck of the ship into the sea.
Miraculously he is found by a fisherman who takes him home
to his wife.
Throughout the book Edward ends up falling into the hands of
many different people. One day Edward suffers a bad head
crack and ends up in the shop of a doll mender. Who ends
up buying Edward in the end? His journey is truly miraculous!

My favourite read of 2020 so far! This book is charming in all the very best ways. The main character is a 3 foot high china rabbit who is cared for by his guardian and owner Abilene. After being separated when he falls overboard during a voyage the book tells the story of his subsequent adventures.
It actually made me cry - such a heartwarming tale of love and friendship.
I prize my copy - and it is certainly a book I will read again and again.
