“This book is one of the most beautiful and magical stories I have ever read. I had my first child 16 years ago so I have read A LOT of children’s books over the years!"" – a 5 star parent review
Winner of the Book Trust Early Years Award, The Bog Baby is a heartwarming story – perfect for inspiring young minds to think about nature, lifecycles and the environment.
When two small sisters go fishing to the magic pond, they find something much better than a frog or a newt. They find a bog baby. Small and blue with wings like a dragon, the girls decide to make him their secret. I won’t tell if you won’t.
But the bog baby is a wild thing, and when he becomes poorly, the girls decide they must tell their mum. And she tells them the greatest lesson: if you really love something, you have to let it go.
""It has really captured my little girl’s imagination and every time we go for a walk, she earnestly looks for her own ‘bog baby’ so that she can record its details on the specific page in the back of the book!” – a 5 star reader review

Love it, he is so cute
I loved the king of tiny things and wanted to read other books by same author.
I really liked it. And I also really love the illustrations again. Yes, recommended it.
I want to read more.
Funny story
Amazing!!! We loved this one
I liked the name and that they hid the bog baby who was my favourite character. The downside of it is that it didn’t name the character.
I loved when the girls let bog baby go because we wasn't feeling well. But they freed the bog baby he was happy again.
I like this book because the Bog Baby looks cute. There’s two sisters that find a big baby and keep him a secret from their parents. The woods in this book are magical and I wish I could there. When the mum finds out, she tells the girls that she used to have a big baby too! Then the girls children find them as well. It’s a lovely book.
It was interesting
It is a fiction because i like the person Jane . Because she is so preety she helped her sister .
One of my children's favourites, we found a copy in a second hand book shop on a national trust adventure and got to enjoy the story again now they're a little bigger and can understand the rights and wrongs and had such wonderful discussions
I like that Bog baby is blue and has wings and that he sucks his toes!
The little girl was my favourite character because she was funny and she was always getting into trouble.
I would recommend this book.
This book is good because they find a bog baby in the pond when they are not supposed to go there.
It is non fiction but I wish it was real because I want to find a bog baby
The two girls found a mysterious Bog Baby and kept it in a
elegant aquarium with the most colourful seashells and pebbles some of them were teeny tiny and beautiful and some were just normal ones. After that they told there mum and kept it back to his normal home because it didn’t belong to them and there were lots more. I think it is a fiction book and I would recommend it to my sister and my friends.
It was a nice book about a big secret that two children had and a big surprise at the end.
I recommend it.
My favourite character was the Bog Baby

I liked it because the two little girls tried to fix their mistake.
It was a bit sad when they let the bog baby go at the end of the story with their mum.But the story was very good and gave good advice.
It was funny .
Beautiful illustrations, takes the reading on an enchanted journey. Thoughtful messages through the story about how we should treat living creatures and the environment.
I read The Bog Baby by Jeanne Willis and I recommended it for Year 2 children in our school. It has beautiful illustrations, wonderful descriptions and many themes to discuss with young children e.g. PSHE (I won’t tell if you won’t), if you really love something, set it free. Science, habitats and how to look after wild animals. There is also an element of magic which added to the emotional connection between the story and the reader.
My favourite fiction book at the moment. We read this in school last year and I have read it so many times during lockdown. I would definitely recommend this magical book!
The big baby is so cute
