I liked this book because not only did it have lots of emotion it always
had a new mystery to solve.I predict that this will become A whole series and in the next book uncle Ty ( Nic/Alexis godfather) will be found and taken to prison but then he will escape and will be eager for revenge! I would recommend this book to people that loved the Harry Potter series or any other magical books.
In conclusion, I loved this book and I hope for a second one!
Great adventure story. I enjoyed how the 'real world' was intertwined into the remarkable world. There was lots of new terminology to learn to be part of this world but it soon became normal and you felt part of the world. Lots of twists and turns meant that this book is one you didn't want to put down.
Interesting discussion points as mixes black history and fantasy, bringing a new light to the past.
Really exciting fantasy fiction story about twins with extraordinary powers coming together. Middle grade read suitable for KS2 and 3.
This book is a very different offering from Angie Sage, who usually writes Young Adult fiction, and it's a real success!
We follow 12 year-old Nic, who lives with her father - her mother having left them when she was young). She narrates the story in a very informal and conversational style that draws you in to the book and tells us that she is a Remarkable (a magical being) who lives in a world of Unremarkables; it's similar to wizards and muggles in Harry Potter. She is a Manifestor and will be able to perform awesome feats, just as soon as her Dad - a Manifestor himself - will agree to teach her how to use her powers, known as the 'Gift'.
Then a chance meeting at an author signing for her favourite fantasy book series leads her on an incredible journey of discovery. She has to find a stolen magical entity in order to save her Dad from a terrible fate, and learns the shocking truth about herself and her family.
The story moves along at a cracking pace and is well set up for the sequel. Recommended!
