Very great book.shows the truth about animal endangerment in a great story
I loved it! it brings out so many emotions, and ,just to top it of, my name is practicly in it!
A story which deals with mental health, family relationships and friendship, this would be a great addition to any Reading for Empathy collection, as the main character tries to understand what is happening to his mother, while struggling to build a relationship with his grandmother. Suitable for upper primary/lower secondary age group.
Another incredible book by Hannah Gold! These stories so make you think whilst drawing you into the character’s stories .
I love this book as there such amazing characters. Hannah Gold also wrote The Last Bear which was really beautiful but very very sad. This book was not as sad and showed a great story between a young person and the natural world.
Yes
I love this book it is 1 of my favorite book
A really enjoyable book. It captured my attention and had me intrigued.
One of the best books I have ever read in my entire 9 years of my life!!
Amazing, showed you a lot of info on whales.
Great illustrations too. Definitely a read again.
A beautifully written book, and a wildlife wonder. When Rio’s Mum has to go to a special hospital Rio is sent to live with his grandmother in America. He assumes that it will be really tedious and he can’t wait to go home. But when he meets a girl, Marina, on the quayside, he starts to have fun. Soon he is taken over by the wonders of whale watching the time is whisked away. Full of facts as well as fiction, a great book for all wildlife watchers and budding marine biologists.
i like this author and this book
Lovely, Wonderful
Yet another wonderful book from Hannah Gold. Highlighting the plight of marine life in this world in which we live, but mixed with how these creatures can help us humans.
An adventure story based in California, full of empathy and compassion. Well researched by the author and although it is purely fiction I learnt something about the migration of whales and the affect that humans have on their survival. A super story that would fit in with an environmental topic in schools.
It was really good because it told you in quite a lot of detail what was happening in the moment about the character’s life and what it was like to have the situation that he was in.
Really loved the book, ocean adventure and about love
this was a very inspiring book ass it tells you about what is happening in the oceans and that we need to try and change that. I would definitely recommend this book to other as it can show others how I felt to when I read this amazing book but Hannah Gold is also an amazing author and it explains what we are doing to the earth and if we don't stop what we are doing we could make lots and lots of species we did not know about go extinct.
I chose this book because it is part of a series of interesting books by Hannah Gold. She was inspired to write this book when she saw her first grey whale in Mexico with her best friend. The Lost Whale is about long boy called Rio who is sent to live with his grandmother and is worse about his mum and if she will get well.
I strongly recommend you read this book!
yet another great book by hannah gold . her books are one of a kind and are like gold dust they are so amazing.i hope hannah gold is going to write many more animal stories . these books are my absolute 100 %. cant wait to read many more of hannah golds books. i hope you all enjoy her books and have a happy reading hour.
A beautiful tale about Rio and his grandmother bonding over a shared connection to the sea and the whales in California. When Rio’s mum has to go to hospital with mental health illness, he has to stay with his grandmother whom he barely knows and dislike immediately. They share a bond for the aquatic life that has been passed to Rio’s mum and the family heals greatly throughout this story.
its an amazing book about a boy who has a connection with a whale . very heart touching
Similar to Hannah’s book the last bear but still very enjoyable. Great for young boys to read especially those who are having parental difficulties at home.
Beautiful!
It was amazing though it was so sad that the whale 🐋 was trapped in a fishers net that shows people need to be more careful with filling the oceans with lots of rubbish and old fishing nets or cages to stop them getting caught on whales tales or round there mouth or any other animals that need help we can all help now!
Love, love, loved it. I thought it would be good but that it would never tug at my heartstrings the way the Last Bear did.
It is beautifully described and so easy to become attached and emotional about the two young characters.
I enjoyed this book because it was so unexpected and you wanted to keep on reading it. I would recommend this book to people who join the ocean.
Just like Bear, the story of Whale really hit home and if the children choose either of them for class reads, I'll have to have the tissues close to hand! I'm so grateful to one of my colleagues who told me how fantastic The Last Bear was and that I should fast track it to the top of my TBR pile. Whale has left an equally deep impression. I have discovered an author whose stories, style and passion for the natural world truly 'make my heart smile'!
This book is about a boy who loves whales. His mother turns I'll do he has to stay with his grandma. While he is at his grandma's house he learns about a whale called the white beak. One day the white beak traps her tail, can this boy help white beak before it's to late?
My favourite character is the white beak because she bonds with the boy and they help each other.
A beautiful story which creates lovely imagery in your mind as you read. I would recommend to any animal lover.
