Mort the Meek and the Ravens' Revenge

A surprisingly good book; I thought with its ‘shorter than I usually read’, in addition to the way it seemed to be pitched at LKS2, I’d find it a bit boring. How wrong I was. There’s a good portion of jokes in here that’d fly right over the little ones heads, though UKS2 probably know enough to catch them.
My favourite character was (don’t shoot me) the Queen; she was delightfully wicked and fun to read about.
Id definitely recommend this to read; I’ve ordered the second book
On Brutalia violence is a way of life. Ravenous ravens circle overhead, monstrous grot bears cause chaos and the streets are bulging with brawls. But Mort isn’t like the other islanders – he’s determined to live peacefully. His struggle is made even tougher when the cruel queen appoints Mort as Royal Executioner. No one has challenged the royals and lived to tell the tale. Can Mort keep his head and outwit the queen? Quite wordy which slows down the action. Recommended for LKS2
