Amazing Description
Good for other guys and gals not me
Vashti Hardy is a genuis author for primary children. Excellent writing which can be talked about in the classroom. This story has two unusual main characters - Orin Crowfall and his robot friend, Cody. Neither are heroic and yet their world hangs in the balance. There is a good environmental message behind the story, reminding me of some early Asimov stories I read when I was a teen.
Orin Crowfall had always felt a strong connection to Ironhold, the island he had called home for his entire life. The community was committed to industry and everyone worked hard to maintain order and prosperity. However, one day Orin stumbled upon a terrible secret that threatened to destroy everything he had ever known: the island was dying and everyone was at risk. Shocked and scared, Orin knew that he had to act fast to save his home and the people he loved. With the help of his trusty robot friend Cody, he set out to evade the authorities and uncover the truth. It wouldn't be easy, but Orin was determined to do whatever it took to keep Ironhold alive and thriving.
A thrilling book with lots of twists and turns. The person who i liked the most was Cody because he may have lost his wings but he still made a big difference in the story
Crowfall is an amazing book by Vashti Hardy. I would recommend it to readers of Brightstorm.
I read Brightstorm in school and loved it! Crowfall is similar in the sense that it is set in a world where they have some very advanced electronics and mechanics. Orin is a boy who has a fixie (which is like a robot for fixing things) called Cody. Unlike other fixies who talk in simple commands of 'Affirmative' and the like, Orin has reprogrammed Cody so she can speak in long sentences (with better grammar than most humans!).
When he finds out his island (Ironhold) is in danger, Orin is determined to save his family, to travel where no Ironhold dweller has been before, and to convince Commander Forge to give up on her selfish plans before it's too late...
I would definitely recommend Crowfall to ang lovers of Brightstorm, or other lovers of Vashti Hardy's books or anyone, really. It is a proper page-turner... you won't be able to put it down!
I would recommend this and I enjoyed it.
She is such a good author. Orin Crowfall and his family live on Ironfall an industrialised island with very little greenery. The person incharge is taking things that she shouldn't and this puts the future of the island at risk. Can Orin save the day? Aimed at confident yr4+ readers.
Absolutely mindblowing tale of trust, friendship and betrayal
Happy at parts but can quickly go sad. I like Orin because he is so determined and never gives up. Would recommend.
A good action book ,I liked the setup
I’d recommend to kids who like action and adventure books.
I liked the way the author wrote this book. It was an exciting tale of fighting for what your home. My favourite character was Ferelith.
I really liked this book it is a very nice book. I really liked his family because all of there surnames were named after crows (Crowfall). I liked the pictures of the carrion crows doing their PE lesson.
This book was fiction exciting and very adventurous. I thought that it was quite interesting. I woud reccomend this book to people who like a bit of entertainment and stuff to keep them on their toes.
My faviourite character was Cody as she is a robot and can thinks thing very well. This book really ticked the boxes for me.
I quite liked it.
I thought this was an imaginative story with a fast paced, adventurous plot. I loved the description of two completely different civilisations both built around the same life force, it made me think about the basis on which we build society and how much we should be open to learning from different cultures, rather then be suspicious of them.
The main character, Orin is likeable and I enjoyed the relationship between him and his robot, Cody. When Orin discovers a secret which threatens the future of his Island, he is forced to hide and flee, but never loses hope of saving his family and fellow islanders. The action and suspense continues throughout and makes this book unputdownable.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys well written, adventure stories.
What a perfectly original story about technology vs nature and also friendship. I love Vashti’s books as she has a writing style that you just get lost in and completely forget that they’re fantasy. Perfect for confident readers or a read aloud for LSK2+
Jus like Vashti Hardy's previous books, this one did not disappoint. It is about servant boy Orin, who has to go on a dangerous journey to save his own island. It is another amazing adventure story where the author has created yet another interesting and imaginative world. The story of friendship, loyalty and adventure had me gripped from start to end, just like her other stories - Brightstorm, Darkwhispers and Wildspark. I would definitely recommend this story to Year 5 +.
A fantastic adventure with a very profound message. I can't wait for my year 6 class to read it.
A fictional tale set in a far off land called Ironhold.
Orin Crowfall's life is overshadowed by his Grandma's non-conforming, but Orin's inquisitive nature leads him to uncover secrets, adventures and a new friendship.
Lovely link between the fantasy and Real worlds and the responsibility of each of us to manage our world in the best possible way.
A lovely story that is developed well and concludes just how every story should...
