’Rundell’s pen is gold-tipped’ – Sunday Times
_______________

Katherine Rundell – Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford, and prize-winning author of five novels for children – explores how children’s books ignite, and can re-ignite, the imagination; how children’s fiction, with its unabashed emotion and playfulness, can awaken old hungers and create new perspectives on the world. This delightful and persuasive essay is for adult readers.

Another enjoyable read. Very short argument of sorts as to why we should all ready Children's books even when we are no longer a child. Only 63 small pages in total it is a quick read. The only thing that let it down for me was the seemingly out of the blue use of politics included in the argument, particularly at the start, but otherwise a good wee book.

Crazy fact I found out though, 'currently the only institutions required by law to have libraries are prisons'! Not even schools are required! Yet, as Katherine points out they are important 'The library remains one of the few places in the world where you don't have to buy anything, know anyone or believe anything to enter in.'
