I liked it because in the end she made a difference.
The book is amazingly written. The characters are loveable and feel like real people. It has an emotional storyline that gets your heart going.
Amazing book talks about how life is like at other countries to inspire people to help
A really nice book about love and how you don't miss something until it’s gone. It’s also about family. I would definitely recommend this book to all people.
I love it! Especially when Shifa Aziz and her brother (Themba Aziz) becomes friends with Luca Freedom and finds a way out of the miserable Freedom Fields using Lona’s rhythms! I recommend this book!
I found that at first I couldn’t get into it but then I kept reading and ended up finding it quite interesting. My favourite characters were Shifa and Luca because of their unique relationship.I would recommend this to lovers of adventure!
I loved it because of its high vocabulary words which I learnt much from and amazing storytelling. Sit Brhamachari deserves a big well done. My favourite character was Luca because he managed to change the way he lived and learn from the good. I recommend it to people who like books about nature. I also recommend it for reading about global warming and world destruction.
I really enjoyed this book. My favourite characters were Shifa and Themba. I would definitely recommend this book.
First I would recommend this book for ages 8-12.thid book in my opinion started off quite boring but then of course it got better again and sent the main character Shifa on a darkening adventure to fing her papa
I think where the river runs gold is an amazing book! I love all the adventures things about it. My favourite character is definitely the main character Shifa, she is so brave and carry's on when everything is tough. Even though she made a few mistakes, she still kept trying! I think she is amazing, I would love to be her.
I would totally recommend it to someone else, Sita Brahmacharl is a great writer.
It was an interesting story. It interested me because the title was where the river runs gold. It was very fun to read.
interesting characters and a worrying future that was entirely believable given the issues with biodiversity and pollinators the world is currently experiencing
This is the story of a girl who runs away from a menacing society where kindness means nothing.
Packed with suspense and sadness, Brahmachari's heartbreaking novel made me cry. A must-read for children and young adult readers alike... a unique book that will stay with you long after you have turned the first page.
A dystopian future based on a climate crisis that results in the seeming extinction of bees. This was well written with lovely layers for young people to unpick. The storyline was pacy and engaging however did move perhaps a little too fast by the final 3rd. Moments of action were sometimes moved on from too quickly and held little consequence for the characters. An idealist escape adventure, but lovely for its intended audience!
I really like this fiction book because I felt like it gave you hope even if you were down and that it shows that there is always a solution to the problem even if you don't think so at the time and that is an important lesson.
also, I think other people will like the book because it has a lot of action.
Finally, my favorite character in the story was Shifa because she was kind and caring and never gave up hope.
Its a fiction book with lots of twists through the book. Very good if your doing dystopian in school.
A super summer read . So much to get you thinking about how we should be looking after our planet .
A great adventure, set in a dystopian future, with themes of social justice, climate change and the importance of biodiversity. Lots to talk about!
I love this book! It has some really good points on how people are treated because of their ‘class’ and climate change effects as well as being a really good read. My favourite character is Shifa because she doesn’t give up easily and always tries to change things for the better. My least favourite characters are the ‘Crows’ or the Freedom Fields leaders. I would recommend this book for 10-13 year olds because it’s quite down to earth and not sugar coated. It’s also a good book for a stretched out read. Overall, this is one book that deserves the prize it won - the Waterstones children book prizes- more then most books ever written!
I loved it so much
Full of drama
