I already love Morpurgo, but really enjoyed all the little stories in this collection, how tightly beaitifully an neatly the man can write a story, also enjoyed the little asides about his life and the writing of the peacies which drew them together and gave them greater depth.

I would definitely recommend this book of Michael Morpurgo's journey to becoming a writer. He describes his memories of people who have inspired him to write and it is also a collection of excellent short stories. I particularly liked 'My father is a polar bear.' Quite a few of his stories end in tragedy and can make you reflective and sad.

This book is interesting and is written in quite a special style. The author seems to attempt to write an autobiography, although trying not to make it boring for fiction-loving readers. He includes short stories that he wrote throughout the autobiography part while making sure the date he finish is same as the time he is writing about. I would definitely recommend and encourage both fiction and non-fiction lovers to read this book. Although the start wasn’t quite very interesting, the book gradually becomes more exciting and fascinating.

I like this book because it tells me why Michael Morpurgo in all of his stories writes about War, in this book it has lots of short stories in one book. I think 9-10 year olds should read this book.
