Super twisting and intruiging

This book is one of my favorites in the enemies-to-lover trope. There were also loads of twists and turns along the way. If you are looking for romance, fantasy and a bit of mystery then look nowhere else.

I had been recommended this book by a friend, and it definitely has one of those enemies to lovers tropes somewhere in there. I quite like the aspect of infiltrating loyalty and decepeting the fae, as its something that has always intrigued me, and the world created here is definitely magical. I really enjoyed reading about the plots, especially the dynamic of a human surviving in Faerie instead of the other way around.

I think my criticism would have to be the romance included in this novel, as its something that really just didn't go down with me well. I became really confused as to whether the male lead actually liked the main character, and the way she sees things is just too complicated to understand. This enemies to lovers trope that the author seem to have included isn't written the best it could be, so we just don't understand why they love each other at all.

Overall, yes it's a good book, the plot and the fantasy is amazing, but the romance needs work, and I just don't think it's the book for me. I would definitely recommend to people who love supernatural/fantasy romance though!

This book was exciting and despite it taking me a while to finish I did somewhat enjoy it , I believe the next few books will be better as I've gotten used to the characters and I can tell this series will be a good one

Strong premise and so far, good story. Was a little confused in places but I was engaged and want to read more. I hope the characters develop in the next books.

i gave this book two stars because although the story was captivating enough, the characters are not original and rely on overdone tropes. i found all the characters to be insufferable. it’s 2022 i’m sick of reading about the whole plain uninteresting mortal girl finding out she’s not so uninteresting after all, and then becomes solely responsible for the future of the kingdom like COME ON it’s been done so many times again and again id think we’d have moved past that. it kind of sort of was my fault for giving this book a chance because i should’ve known what i was getting into from seeing the cover design. despite the unoriginality of this story however i don’t feel like i’ve wasted my time particularly, but i definitely won’t read this again or the next two books in the series. it’s too predictable and uninteresting.

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS BOOK IT MAKES ME SCREAMM. the love story is beautiful and keeps me wanting to read more. There’s not one boring part in this book and it really gets you hooked. Would recommend it to everyone because it’s so beautiful. Even through the problems of the relationship it’s just always works out. Shows the true reality of a relationship and the love story is just sooo cute and lovely. Makes you a hopeless romantic.

This was a reread, and a positive one.

I genuinely love this book. It gets a bad reputation as people market it as a fae enemies to lovers romance, and in reality it is a political fantasy with a small romance subplot. But I find the romance is the least interesting thing about it, it’s gorgeously written with distinctive characters.

The magical system in Elfhame is so interesting, and I find the atmosphere to be both beautiful and comforting.

Also, Jude Duarte is one of my favourite protagonists ever, she’s basically my role model at this point.

PLEASE READ IT!!!

When Jude is taken to Faerie Land, she grows up to fear and respect the superior immortals. She is mocked for being human, with curved ears and a limited lifespan, with her main tormentor being the cruel prince, Cardan. In a tale of action and betrayal, Jude learns to keep her friends close snd her enemies closer…

Might be one of my favourite fantasy stories I’ve read in a while. Faerie is a magical land where Jude, a mortal lives in, and the book is about her story and her life there. Jude was probably my favourite character, although I also liked Vivienne. I would definitely recommend to fantasy lovers!

I loved this book! It’s super amazing, I love Holly’s writing style. It was super exciting and fast-paced, I couldn’t put it down!
I actually found this book for free on my kindle, included with my Prime Membership. I was super thrilled to find one of my new favourite books, and I actually bought the whole trilogy- after reading all three, I’ve now bought some more of the Holly Black books!
Overall, this was an amazing, inspiring book! Full of fantasy’s and made me form a love for the sort of royal, fantasy style of writing. It even inspired me to write my own book: The Crimson Queen!

This is my favourite book so far. There is suspense, a love interest and betrayals. You can also understand and relate to all the characters. I personally love the main character as she is a strong and determined person. The only problem is if you start this book, you need to also buy the second one as the suspense is very big! I saw this book everywhere on social media and now I understand why. This book makes me feel strong, evil and powerful. I would recommend it to people that like this style. All the people around me or love or hate this book. There is no in between. And I for sure love it. I hope you.ll like it too.

I didn't enjoy this book as much as I hoped I would but I think that is mainly down to how quickly I read it. I think that the book should have been longer so that there could be more detail because I feel like too much happens in this book that it's almost like a "you blink and you miss it" sort of thing. I found the second half of this book to be so much more enjoyable than the first half because I feel that that's when Jude begins to become more of the hero of the story rather than just a person.

I didn't really like the main character, Jude, mainly because she acted offended by every little thing, which caused more conflict than could fit into the book. I think that my favourite character was probably Cardan because I feel like he has the most character and he sticks to it for the whole book.

Based on this book alone, no, I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone else because I saw it as a mess rather than a story but once I read the rest of the series I think that my views may change.

Despite what I didn't like about this book, I didn't completely hate it and I feel the need to read the rest of this series because I know that everyone says book 2 is so much better.

Convincing world building with an intriguing heroine, complex characters ... I really wanted to read the next book as soon as I finished

I wasnt sure about this at first due to the fairy element but I was soon proved wrong. These fairies and magical beings are not at all like Tinkerbell.
This book carefully sets up the setting and characters and the story line is full of intrigue through twists and turns.
I had to finish it throughout one sitting and couldn't wait to find out what happened next!

amazing book i loved it so much i can't wait until i can read the rest of the series

This was a fantastic read! I was hooked from the start. If you want to escape reality for a while and enter fairy land this is the place to go. Don’t be fooled into thinking fairies are sweet and innocent this story is about a humans survival outside the mortal mortal world.
