Erin loves to lie on the jetty, looking for the weirdest fish in the sea — the weirder, the better! And she knows the best ones must be further out, where her mum won’t let her go …Out there in the deepest sea lies the Black Rock: a huge, dark and spiky mass that is said to destroy any boats that come near it! Can Erin uncover the truth behind this mysterious legend?

My favourite character was Erin Pike because she thought of Black Rock and stopped the parents from destroying it. Erin didn't give up. I would recommend this to people who like the sea. It teaches us to be caring and determined.
In the deepest sea lies the Black Rock:
I’ve wanted to get hold of this book for ages. The illustrations are beautiful but I think that I’d expected more from the story… I’ll try it out in the Library 📚
I like it at the end when they put a lighthouse on top of the black rock.
I liked it when Erin stopped the boats from attacking the rock. My favourite character was the black rock, he was kind & helpful, it was sad when he hurt himself.
I enjoyed this book about the legend of black rock. I liked that the rock was alive and saved Erin.
I like this because they thought it was scary, but it's not really.
I liked when the black rock came by and saved Erin and all the fisherman thought it was a big monster but then erin saved the black rock.
Nice ending but found the middle a bit scary. It was good to see that the fishermen could recognise they were mistaken and not continue to try to destroy black rock.
I like the black rock, he was nice. And the dog called archie. I liked Erin seeing all the sea animals, especially the angler fish.
I really didn't like it.
I really liked the book especiallythe part about how all the sailors were telling tales about the rock and Erin went to find out the truth. That was my favourite part.
Liked the main character Erin as she wanted to protect the rock. A good theme about looking after our planet.
We always enjoy readying this book
Visually appealing and engaging illustrations by Joe. This book creates curiosity and hold suspense
I read this with my brother and we both liked it because it was an exciting adventure story and shows the little girl Erin's bravery. There are more in the series and I am going to read them.
I like the drawings, I liked the detail in the pictures. You've got to read it because it's a really nice book.
The main character is Erin. Her mom is fishwomen. Erin discovered the truth that the big black mountain is beautiful and good.
Nice story
I like Erin.
Black rock had so many lovely pictures and a big surprise
It was really exciting to see that the rock was actually a creature that helped Erin and all of the sea creatures.
It was really good. I liked it when the black rock saved Erin
Good because it’s got really colourful pictures.
It was exciting, fun and adventures.
Excellent read. The story captures the human impact on the environment.
I like the way the author uses a female character in a mainly male dominant role.
The book really makes you think and would be suitable for age 6 & above.
I liked when all the grown ups saw that it was a home to all the animals.
I liked this but it was a little bit scary. I'm glad the people realised Black rock was not a monster but a home to many sea creatures
I really like this story.
I loved it. At the beginning I thought that the black rock was just a normal big rock, but then I realised that it was a magic creature, with a face, legs and arms.
Another beautifully illustrated picture book where the main character (Erin) sets out to discover the legend of Black Rock, What she finds surprises her and so begins another mission for our brave adventurer. A lovely picture story book with an ecological message. Recommended for KS1 and early KS2..
