Washed up on an island in the Pacific, Michael struggles to survive on his own. He can’t find food, he can’t find water. In the end he curls up to die. When he wakes, there is a plate beside him of fish, of fruit, and a bowl of fresh water. He is not alone

The wag michael creates a bond with kensuke on an island
I like this book
If you like sea and water, you will enjoy reading this book. Full of adventures
A fairly sad story with lots of description.
Read it at school and there are some bits that are very interesting and some art really but I usually am obsessed with Michale Morpurgo books like boy giant and shadow.
This book was great as I loved how it took you on an adventure and how Michael Morpurgo wrote it. especially how he wrote it when Kensuke was talking as he is not fluent in English and you more details on his personality. I recommend it to anyone who wants to on an adventure.
so good so intense love this book and a happy ending.
adventurous and tense
So exciting
I would recommend this book for people like the sea and water based stories
A lovely adventure story about an unexpected friendship full of trust with a bittersweet ending.
I liked Stella because she was not really bothered about anything and she was in a world of her own.
I liked kensuke because he was kind, and I would recommend it to somebody else
There was lots of mystery and adventure. sometimes it got a bit boring but overall it was good.
Great for Year 5 or 6 - interesting story with great language.
good
It is first class
l read Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo. I enjoyed this book because l found hearing about survival in a stranded island very interesting and what it would be like. Surprisingly, this book is a true story about a stranded Japanese man named Kensuke who lost his family in a war. I would recommend this group to all age groups and l give it a 5 stars.
I have enjoyed the book but kensuke has an very sad and hard life and story but michael sometimes try to help him but michael is also angry with him because of that kensuke don't let michael do things like making a fire or swiming.
It's a fantastic book that I highly recommend!
Kensuke was a very helpful person
Lots of cliffhangers. At the beginning, it was quite boring to me but it became interesting quite fast. Lots of learning and fun! Plus great storyline!
This book is amazing. I really loved it when Kensuke took care of Michael after the jellyfish sting.
But it was really sad when the mothers died.
It was really a surprise at the end to when you put the letter in the book poor Michiya. But I still love the story really much.
I really enjoyed this book, I loved how the old man secretly looked after everyone on the island and that it ended happily.
I love this book.
Excellent author
Very exiting
This is a wonderful adventure story about a young boy called Michael who leaves his family home with his parents to sail around the world on his parents boat The Peggy Sue. One day he goes overboard and washes up on an island. He finds a place to shelter and food and water appears in front of his cave every morning. Eventually, he discovers that Kensuke has been the one providing him with food. He learns a lot about Kensuke and his life in Japan and in the war. Michaels parents eventually find Michael and he returns to the Peggy Sue and goes home. Kensuke remains on the island with his orangutans and lives a peaceful and quiet life. Lovely adventure story for children.
Very exciting.
Excellent book! Short yet engaging. Simple yet captured the complex relationship between the characters. I can't wait to read this with my class.
Reread this book for the second time - thoroughly enjoyed it again! Great inspiration for upcoming reading sessions at school - love the suspense of whether Michael would ever get back home and what Kensuke would decide to do too!
