A fiendishly pacy mystery-adventure story for 9+ readers, set in the seamy, smoggy underworld of Victorian London.

Definitely older primary or early KS3. Good read which deals with looking and feeling different.
Amazing! Sir Oswald, Clarissa and Wild Boy are all my favourites!
Set in the 1800s in a travelling freak show (gripped already) a fictional tale about a murder mystery and two unlikely heroes.
Picked as a book to share with my Year 5 class - definitely the right choice!
Recommended to anyone with an interest in classic whodunnits or, anyone wanting to be entertained with solid descriptions of the life and times of a 'freakshow' with humour and that sense of achievement when the murderer is revealed if you had it correct!
It is a good book
I like clarissa the best
Loved this book. Ties nicely into electricity and the victorians topics at school
The start is quite sad and emotional
So I m warning you it’s probably not for late night reads
Really loved this novel. Set in Victorian London, a young boy, covered in hair, is cast out as a freak and a murderer and so has to prove his innocence using only his observational skills and a desire to never give up. The book sets off quite slowly but keep with it. It soon erupts like a rocket and as a reader you struggle not to keep turning the pages to keep up. A real must for any Y5/6 child who enjoys a good mystery novel!
A wild adventure through the streets of London in 1841, an acrobat and a hair-covered boy raised as a monster. What's not great about that?
With a murder to solve Wild Boy and Clarissa, set out to solve clues which lead them to a much bigger secret. A secret which could change their lives. A thoroughly engaging story of murder, mystery and betrayal.
A super and exciting read.
I would definitely recommend for KS2 children and grown ups too. Very gritty and descriptive of the Victorian times
its interesting and cool
A mixture of Sherlock Holmes and The Greatest Showman. Brilliant mystery book with an insight into Victorian freak shows.
It was hard to put the book down.
It was really exciting and I just did not know what was going to happen next. Some bits were a bit creepy but that all added to the suspense.
I liked the main character, Wild Boy, and also his partner, Clarissa.
Would I recommend it... Certainly.
A boy covered in hair, raised as a monster, condemned to a life in a travelling freak show. A boy with extraordinary power of observation and detection. A boy accused of murder hungry for the truth. Behold the savage spectacle of WILD BOY!!!
Other than the Harry Potter books that I have read, this is probably my favourite book. It is full of mistery, crime, adventure and anything else to do with murder stories. If any younger readers are reading this text, I would not recommend you to read this. I reccon that this book should be rated for a 10-12year old.
A great mystery story.
Really cool - it's good for 8 year olds and above. It is murderous and mysterious and I agree if you like Sherlock Holmes you will like this book.
It is very appealing for fans of Sherlock Holmes because it has a very big murder mystery to be solved
This book is amazing! couldn't get my eyes off it
It's exciting and will have you on the edge of your seat!
It's like another Sherlock mystery but better. It's sad, happy and beautiful!!!
