ABOUT THE BOOK

Brightland has been at war for years. The men in power rule with an iron fist and hunt those born with songlight – a powerful form of telepathy – without mercy.

Eighteen year old Elsa is used to secrets. She’s been hiding the songlight and the love she shares with Rye, a soldier on the brink of deployment, from everyone. But when Rye’s songlight is discovered, he is imprisoned, soon to have his mind erased forever.

Elsa is determined to save them both from that fate, but with dangerous political forces edging closer to home, there is no one Elsa can trust. Then, she meets Kaira, a stranger from the Capital, who is in a situation even more desperate than her own.

Their friendship sows a seed of hope . . . but will it be enough to keep them, and those they love, alive?
