Join in with Book Club Day UK 2026! All of the offers and opportunities

Book Club Day UK is an annual celebration of books and shared reading, run by national reading charity, The Reading Agency on 11 September 2026.

This Book Club Day UK, be a reading rebel and join the reading rebellion:

πŸ“– Be a reading rebel, join a book club
πŸ“– Be a reading rebel, start a book club
πŸ“– Be a reading rebel, bring someone new to you club
πŸ“– Be a reading rebel, make reading more visible

But why?

β€’ Despite 58% of people saying they read at least once a week, only 46% of people say they see other people reading at least once a week. This suggests there is a significant gap in reading visibility
β€’ 1 in 4 adults (26%) say they see people reading once a year or less
β€’ Only 34% of adults talk to someone about their reading at least once a week
(Spaulding, Norton and Onursal, 2026) [Forthcoming].

Last year we shared a blog about the benefits of being in a club to show why they are a brilliant place for readers to come together.

2026 is the National Year of Reading, a campaign designed to reignite a culture of reading for pleasure across the UK. It aims to make reading joyful, relevant and visible for allβ€”in homes, classrooms, workplaces and communities. The campaign invites people to Go All In on their passions.

Book Club Day UK is a chance to bring people together to enjoy the power of reading and book talk, apply for book club sets to read and review, discover resources and welcome new readers into your circle throughout the month and beyond.

Join in with Book Club Day UK (and throughout the month of September)

How to join in at work

We have a Workplace Toolkit so workplaces across the UK cab join the reading rebellion this month. Take 15 minutes out of the working day to swap recommendations. Start a bookish debate over lunch. Fill your workplace with the books your colleagues love. Hold a book swap. Or use the day to finally start that workplace book club you’ve been talking about.

How to join in if you don’t have a book club…yet

We have created a guide to help you start your own and Book Club Day UK is the perfect time to start planning or advertising your club! Make sure sign up and make the most of the Book Club Hub.

πŸ“– We also have three book clubs sharing how they run and their recommended reads: Bookabout Book Club| Books and Pudding Clubs UK | Offline Books

πŸ“– We have also partnered for another year with Wilbur Smith Adventure Writing Prize to have clubs shadowing their shortlist – read more about these clubs and their experience
