A moving tale of secrets and survival bound together by the power of music, from a master storyteller.

When Lesley is sent to Venice to interview world-renowned violinist Paulo Levi on his fiftieth birthday, she cannot believe her luck. She is told that she can ask him anything at all – except the Mozart question. But it is Paulo himself who decides that it is time for the truth to be told. And so follows the story of his parents as Jewish prisoners of war, forced to play Mozart violin concerti for the enemy; how they watched fellow Jews being led off to their deaths and knew that they were playing for their lives. As the story unfolds, the journalist begins to understand the full horror of war, and how one group of musicians survived using the only weapon they had – music.

I loved this book even though it was a short read. I also found it was nice being able to relate to the book as I play the viola. I think the Mozart question was asked and answered. I like the moral of this story and how Paolo Levi learnt how to play the violin. I also like how Paolo joins the family together, this story has been told really well. I recommend this to ages 11+

Its a recommended book to read because I learnt a lot what happened to innocent people who were treated badly in the second world war. It was very sad. It made me cry.

The Mozart Question is a under 10 book as it has easy words and pictures. The lady is a reporter of only 3 weeks of experience and she gets asked by her boss to interview one of the most famous violinists around, she is told she can not under any circumstances ask him "The Mozart Question". She asks him just one question and he reveals the answer to the question everyone wanted to know...

If you like music this could be the one for you. It's all about a boy and how he learnt to play music on a violin.
