Amazing book for young readers.
Its an adventure book
Good
The firework makers daughter found it hard to climb up to the volcano because she hadn't got the potion to protect herself.
This book is definitely not for me I didn’t really like it you know. It’s about a girl with her dad and her dad is a firework person but she really wants to be one but her dad didn’t want her to be one. But one she decided that she would enter this competition and not tell her dad. My favourite character is onece a gain the main character the firework makers daughter because she risked herself. This book is fiction. I don’t really like this book overall.
A great story with lots of messages within in- not too long to read either so great for people who want a lovely story that doesn’t take an age to read!
It is a good book. You might want to read it!
It was a good book about someone who wanted to make fireworks. My favourite character was the big white elephant because he could talk.
I thought the ideas and characters were good, but the story was a bit confusing for me to understand.
Lila wanted to become a firework maker. I liked it when she started and finished the journey because she had to overcome the obstacles.
It was full of adventure
Have actually read this one before but definitely worth a re-read and refresh. Quite a short story with some humour and some fantastic choices of language. Highly recommend for Years 3 and 4 or older.
Reminded me of the Rupert Bear stories I read as a child.
A beautiful story
This book is about Lila who wants to be a fire work maker, but her father refuses to tell her how to become one because he wants her to get married instead. So Lila (with the help of her friend Chulak) tricks her father into telling her, then goes on a quest for the Royal Sulphur. The story is about the challenges Lila faces and her friendship with Chulak and the white elephant Hamlet.
I did really like this book it’s quite funny in places and the characters are very likeable (such as Uncle Rambushi.) The only part I didn’t enjoy was the parts where the author describes the firework displays because I found that tedious and boring.
really amazing and interesting
Good Indian story
It was good because they're were Indian
What a fantastic strong female main character! Year 3&4 love this book. It has exciting characters, such as a talking elephant and a fire demon! The settings are described well, for example the forest and the volcano. A great book!
Excellent speed-read adventure. Reminded me of a favourite from my childhood, 'The land of Green ginger', with the right mix of whimsy, threat and far-away adventure.
This book was interesting. My favourite character was Lila, and I think that people who like adventure would like it.
A fantastic fiction book that explores youth and responsibility that creates some of the most lavish and beautiful scenery I have ever read about. I would recommend this to anyone.
This was a fun story set in a magical world of White Elephants, Moon Goddesses, Fire Gods and the Firework Maker's Daughter.
Lila, dreams of making Crackle-Dragons, Leaping Monkeys and Tumbling Demon fireworks, but making fireworks is no job for a girl. However, this is not acceptable for Lila and she sets off on an adventure to and journeys to get Royal Sulphur from Razvani the Fire-Fiend at Mount Merapi, as all aspirant firework-makers must do.
A fantastic adventure story with a spectacular fireworks display at the end. Makes me excited for the 5th of November.
This is an adventure story about a firework-maker’s daughter who wants to travel to a volcano and collect the royal sulphur to become a real firework-maker.
Loved this book, the main character, Lola, showed a fiery spirit and determination at succeeding in her goal even in the face of adversity.
best bit: Lila meets the Fire Fiend
This was fun to read and easy to fall in love with the characters, especially Chulak.
I loved this book
I liked when Ravini laughed aloud at Lila.
It was very good because it was very adventurous and very happy in the end.
