Felix is lucky. Unlike the other children in the orphanage, he’s certain his parents will come back for him one day. And whatever the Nazis do and however many books they burn, Felix’s imagination provides him and his companions with an endless supply of stories that protect them when they’re on the run and one day may even save Felix’s life.

Having recently started work in a grammar school where one of my many responsibilities is school librarian (my dream job!), I took the opportunity to check myself out a number of junior fiction books to read over the holidays. I love the way Gleitzman has written a book very definitely from a child's perspective but not shying away from the terrible things that happened under Nazi rule, and the way understanding dawns on the main character, Felix. I will be recommending this to my students.

You should read this book because it is full of suprises and adventures. The relationship between Zelda (6 years old) and felix (10 years old) during the war is amazing because they are just like brothers and sisters. If you are into war stuff then this is a book for you :)

I think people who love the world war should read this. It includes everything someone would witness and go through so everyone knows how it feels. A bonus is there are two books in one so you get to read two parts in this wonderful series!

I really enjoyed this book because it's about Jewish boy trying to survive the Holocaust with a girl called Zelda. It is a very sad story but at the same time the author tries to weave humor into the book. I think 10-12 year old's should read this book.

Very enjoyable to read, but is somewhat gruesome.

because its an amazing tale about the war times and how 2 children run away from the Nazis just for a safe life without having the feeling they might not wake up in the morning one dead, one alive, 2 dead or even none dead were there only thoughts but for Felix 10 and Zelda 6 he didn't want to die and leave her alone because she's very stubborn and does silly things and he didn't want her to die because she sacrifices her life for him.

Because it is full of adventures that a little boy and a little girl have to face in WW2. It is a hard life for both of them, but in the end all works out well. Or does it...
