The extraordinary story of a boy called Wart – ignored by everyone except his tutor, Merlyn – who goes on to become King Arthur.

It was a well-written book with interesting characters and featured many old words. There was lots of action and there was even a singing hedgehog and a talking oak tree! My favourite character was Merlyn because he was quite wise and taught Wart spells to turn into different animals. I would recommend the book to someone who likes fantasy or adventure books.

Amazing

I found this quite irritating in lots of parts , the mixture of historical detail mixed with author comment/ opinion was quite difficult to discern. The adult humour and comment was disconcerting in what I’d thought was a child’s book . However once I’d got over that I began to understand the concept.

Quite a good story telling the events that happened before he became King Arthur.

Good, I like it when Merlin turns Arthur into a fish!

My favourite part is when Wart managed to pull our the sword from the stone and without knowing that it was the sword that was meant to be for the competition to see who would be the next king of England, so he was then crowned king and it broke his heart to see his guardian kneeling before him with his foster brother, who used to be quite mean to him, Kay, the son of Sir Ector.
the woods after he tries to recapture Kay’s hawks after it didn’t come back so now he is completely alone, at the complete mercy of the woods, with man eaters, armed with poisonous arrows and witches that like to eat plump boys for dinner, or even the man that twists of peoples’ noses when they get lost there.
Sir Ector is the foster parent of Wart, and his foster brother, Kay is sometimes a bit mean to him. However, when their new tutor, Merlin comes over to teach them, all of their subjects become a lot more fun, and Wart is turned into many things, including a snake and a fish. Merlin can’t turn Kay into anything, but he can let them both go an adventure. In the end, Wart becomes the next king of England after he accidentally pulls out the sword for Kay, that was meant to be for the competition to see who would be the next king.

I enjoy this book. It obviously is a fiction book! This is the story of the Young King Arthur, and the way he lived his life, only the sword in the stone comes at the end of the book. It is full of laughs and magic, I would definetely recommend! My favourite character is Merlyn, the magician. 4/5 stars!
