Read the HILARIOUS books that inspired the HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON films!
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third is a smallish Viking with a longish name. Hiccup’s father is chief of the Hairy Hooligan tribe which means Hiccup is the Hope and the Heir to the Hairy Hooligan throne – but most of the time Hiccup feels like a very ordinary boy, finding it hard to be a Hero.
In the first How to Train Your Dragon book Hiccup must lead ten novices in their initiation into the Hairy Hooligan Tribe. They have to train their dragons or be BANISHED from the tribe FOR EVER!
But what if Hiccup’s dragon resembles an ickle brown bunny with wings? And has NO TEETH? The Seadragonus Giganticus Maximus is stirring and wants to devour every Viking on the Isle of Berk . . .
Can Hiccup save the tribe – and become a Hero?

Adventureous story
This was an amazing book i loved it so much x
My favorite character is the dragon Toothless.
It intrested me because toothless made me laugh as he was treated like a boss by Hiccup.
I love toothless in How to train your dragon because he is cute and brave.
This is a good introduction to the series and made me want to read more
My favourite character was toothless because he made me laugh. I learnt that size isn’t everything and that a small dragon can make you fiercer than a large one!
My favourite character is Hiccup because he has lots of super clever ideas and he learnt how to train his dragon.
I wish there was a million stars to rate it because it was very interesting, fascinating and helped me to learn new things like how to speak dragonese
I did not understand what happened
I really liked that Hiccup got eaten by Green death and then he sneezed him out! I thought it was really funny
I love mythical stories so I can’t wait to read the whole series!
I like this book because I like the films that go with it and I can imagine it better when reading
Loved it.
It was so funny! I liked the creativity of Hiccup when he made a plan to defeat the green death. I liked the plot and the way each character could be realistic.
Having been persuaded by my 9 year old grandson to read this book, I took it away on holiday to read.
It was a delight to read, it was funny, the layout was good with the hand drawn illustrations.
I will be recommending this book and its sequels in the school library. We have a section entitled "You've seen the film, now read the book " and this will be a good one for that display!
So different to the film!
i like it because theres so many dragons and i like dragons
It was fiction full of humor. My favorite character was Hiccup .
I like Hiccup and Toothless.
I really like it because I love dragons and enjoyed the story line.
I like that it gives you so many good words and teaches you a lesson
Really good
I loved this story, the second best book in the world.
Not enough action
I like the book a lot because the style of pictures the illustrator has used is very unique compared to other basic pictures. In addition, I like how the character ‘snotlout’ thinks that he is more important than all the other members of the tribe, including the son of the head chief! I would say more, but I don’t want to spoil the story. I would definitely recommend this book!!
Amazing, speechless
I like Toothless because he is a very funny dragon and I would recommend it.
I have read this and you should read it because it is so good
I would recommend this book because it’s scary and a bit funny. I bit liked the best was when Hiccup escaped from the dragon’s mouth.
