This is a superb book! I recommend for anyone aged 9+ who have enjoyed books by authors such as Emma Carroll or Eva Ibbotson, or who are looking for a new challenge. I loved the plot twist at the end, and my heart was always with Annika, hoping it would all turn out well for her in the end. Eva Ibbotson is an amazing author, but this is my favourite of her books!

I liked Annika, Ellie, Stefan, and Pauline. I like Annika because she is strong, caring and kind, and willing to put her trust in people that turn out to be completely the opposite of what she imagined. Ellie is also strong and cares for Annika immensely and even when Annika returns, she is sad for Annika as well as being happy for herself. I like Stefan because he may come from a poor family and he knows it will never happen, but he still dreams of becoming an engineer. and lastly, I like Pauline because she was willing to confront her greatest fear to help her friend when she was in danger. I would recommend the book for readers that enjoy happy endings but with lost of mystery beforehand.

Annika is an orphan. She was raised by two maids, Ellie and Sigrid, who worked for three professors. But one day, shortly after Loremarie's elderly relative who she had been reading to passed away, a woman who claims to be Annika's birth mother comes to take her away. But is she really who she says she is?

I thought this book was good because it is full of adventure. I liked Zed because he was the one who figure out that Anika's "mother" had stolen the trunk. I would recommend this book to someone who likes a mystery book.

This was another great story by Eva, yet so different from Journey to the River Sea.

What a cracker of a book; Eva Ibbotson never fails to deliver. This charming, beautifully written story, enchants the reader, whisking them away the colourful city of early twentieth century Vienna, only to be transported yet again, to the wet, dull Norrlands, where bears roam the dark forests.

Join Anikka and her friends as they fight to reveal the truth about her past, facing hardships and difficult decisions in this heart-reaching thriller of a book.

This book was a brilliant read, full of adventure and suspense but the story line was a bit complicated. Eva Ibbotson has incorporated some really great ideas into her writing but I think the book could have crossed a less bumpy road. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed The Star of Kazan, and would no doubt recommend it to people maybe from 12+.
