The story begins with a mysterious egg washed up on a Scottish beach, the morning after a great storm. Kirstie and her brother Angus find the egg and take it home. The next day it has hatched into a tiny greeny-grey creature with a horse’s head, warty skin, four flippers and a crocodile’s tail – but the trouble is, it just doesn’t stop growing.

It was an amazing when the water horse when to its new home,
Great book, throughly enjoyed reading this to my class.
I think it was really good because it showed a life story of the water horse and it was like it was real
I liked it because I liked the water horse.
It’s so good
I loved this book so much amd I loved watching the movie too. I would really recommend reading this book. I enjoyed it because it’s in Scotland amd my mums from there.
Totally magical
I enjoyed the book, but took a little while to get into the story. I like the descriptions of the landscapes and although it was a fiction story I could imagine being in Scotland by one of the Lochs. I would recommend this book, its a good short story
I really enjoyed this book, it was an exciting adventure!
I liked this story. It was about Scotland. I have been on holiday to Scotland this summer and I drove a boat on a loch like the one the water horse lives in.
I thought this was a really nice, funny story.
I read this book after watching the film. The book is a lot different from the film, I thought the book was better. For example in the book Kirsty finds the egg but in the film it's Angus finds the egg. My favourite part of the book is when Angus has his first ride with the sea monster.
I like it when Angus thinks the water horses egg is a giant mermaid purse.
I have given this book a 5 because I enjoyed the setting descriptions. They made you feel like you were actually there. My favourite character was Kirsty because when they found the egg she didn’t leave it behind like the others.
I thought this was a tiny bit scary at points where you're not sure whether the water horse is going to be good or bad but I liked it. I liked the water horse best. I would recommend this book to people over the age of 3.
This is a mythical story. It is interesting because the water horse never stopped growing.
I like the water horse the best because he is the mix between two animals: turtle and horse (horse head with turtle body)
I would recommend it as it is enchanting and the water horse is adorable.
This book is about a girl named Kirsty who found a giant egg. When it hatched she found out it was a sea monster called a water horse! This book is full of action and adventure. My favourite character is Kirsty because she is brave and full of courage. I recommend this book to readers who likes adventurous books.
I liked this book because it is talking about something very interesting, THE LOCH NESS MONSTER which was really a water horse, and water horses are very rare. Angus who had found the Water horse and Kirstie had bread it and kept it safe in her pond, then the water horse grew so big, that they had to keep him loch Lomond.
I liked Angus because he was always hungry. I also like Kirstie because she . isn so kind and caring that she puts others before herself.
It is about a girl and a boy (kirstie and Angus) who find a weird shaped rock on the beach and they put it in the bath and it hatches in the night . Dick king smith has based it on the story of the Loch Ness monster . It has funny bits and sad bits but it was good all the same. I would recommend it to anyone aged 8 to 10 as it is quite quick and easy or anyone who likes mythical creatures. READ IT NOW !!!
The Water Horse was a magnificent creature in this book. I thought that it was brilliant, because they have to find a place big enough for the Water Horse to live, but how can he break his bond with the humans so he can live in freedom?
Very interesting book for kids who love thrillers. Once you start reading it, you could hardly put it down. It is about an egg washed away after storm.
