First published in 1972 and set in 1960's Baltimore The Clockwinder is a beautifully written, finely observed story about ordinary people in ordinary domestic situations. The characters are as quirky, scatty and frustrating as real people with the usual fractious relationships. All in all an engrossing, funny, sad and delightful story.
