I'm catching up on the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series and am not reading them in order. While that would help, it doesn't entirely matter and every book is a wonderful comfort read. For all that Botswana is an arid, hot place Alexander McCall Smith makes it attractive when seen through the eyes of Mma Remotswe. There is humour, wisdom (there is always philosophy in his books) and kindness. I like the idea of having afternoon tea with Mma Polokwane at the orphan farm and having a 'particularly large slice' of homemade fruit cake.
