Full of adventure and humour, Goth Girl and the Ghost of a Mouse is the beautifully illustrated winner of the Costa Award – presented here in a gorgeous hardcover. From Chris Riddell, author of the Ottoline series, it is perfect for fans of Howl’s Moving Castle and Netflix’s Wednesday.
Ada Goth is the only child of Lord Goth. The two live together in the enormous Ghastly-Gorm Hall. Lord Goth believes that children should be heard and not seen, so Ada has to wear large clumpy boots so that he can always hear her coming. This makes it hard for her to make friends and, if she’s honest, she’s rather lonely.
Then one day William and Emily Cabbage come to stay at the house, and together with a ghostly mouse called Ishmael they and Ada begin to unravel a dastardly plot that Maltravers, the mysterious indoor gamekeeper, is hatching. Ada and her friends must work together to foil Maltravers before it’s too late!
Though they can be enjoyed in any order, continue this deliciously dark series with Goth Girl and the Fete Worse Than Death and Goth Girl and the Wuthering Fright.

Clever use of language and character names (Mary Shellfish) absolutely enhanced by the illustrations
Although this book would be great for reading comprehension with primary pupils, I must admit I was partially disappointed with its overall execution.
While the descriptions of the environments and characters were beautifully crafted, I found that the author placed too much emphasis on this rather than the momentum and feel of the narrative.
Due to this, I didn’t find myself naturally drawn to the story and it took a while for my attention to be fully grasped.
This is unlike the experience I had when reading texts like Matilda, which also includes great descriptions of its characters but drops the reader straight into the story.
I could see myself using extracts from this book to further reading comprehension, as some of the descriptions are a bit complicated. However, I do not think I would study the entire book with a class.
I loved it but I don't like it when it doesn't say a lot about the ghost of a mouse.
Yes i absolutely love this book so funny and persuasive it tells you not to hurt animals wich is absolutely true
My favourite part is when Ada makes friends with Emily and Will
It is a bit strange but a good book

I really enjoyed reading Goth Girl and the ghost of a Mouse, it is the first goth girl i've read and i'm sure there is lots more to come!
It is about a girl called Ada Goth who lives in Ghastly - Gorm Hall with her Father and all the maids and butlers and so on. Her mother was a tightrope walker but died when Ada was little.
After a while she becomes friends with Emily and William who run the attic club ( A club including Emily, William ) which Ada soon becomes a part of.
But can they find out what Maltravers, the indoor gamekeeper is up to and put a stop to it!
A brilliant story but i gave it 4 stars because there was one part i didn't understand.
I like Lucy Borgia
