There is so many things happening at once. I am just amazed how the author could cope with that.
Marcus was angry because he didn't like going to merlin's
A must-read for anyone interested in the history of Britain or in its folklore and legends. Marcus misbehaves at school on a regular basis hoping that might bring his divorced parents back together. But what happens at his new school leads him to a path of real adventures, new friendships and even saving the king!
Couldn’t put it down
I liked how the giants came alive again and Marcus made friends with one of them and i like how it ended on a positive aspect of everyone all being friends.
I love this as it’s exciting, adventurous and mischievous!
I didn’t like all of the giants but Crom was nice. My favourite character was Marcus but he was very naughty.
Really good
This book is about a boy called Marcus who instead of having a suspention has to go to a new school called Merlins. Determined to get expelled Marcus sneaks out at night but instead he makes a new friend and finds out giants are planning to ruin the human race. My favorite characters are Minnie and Crom.
This book is about a boy called Marcus who, to avoid a suspention, has to go to a school called Merlins. He is determined to get thrown out for bad behaviour but discovers a giant and has to save London and potentially the whole world! My favorite characters are Minnie and Crom. I recommend this book to someone who enjoys books about fairytales and giants.
I liked it because there was a boy in the wizard school and nobody believed him besides the giant. Also because it was a fantasy book which I like
It was really good. There were giants who tried to destroy the human race but the main character, called Marcus, talked to the giants and they decided that they wouldn’t. They went back to sleep instead!
I enjoyed that there was a good and bad side. One of the bad sides joined the good.
I liked the planes and giants
13 year old Marcus is angry and acting out at school, “Putting laxatives in the school custard, shaving the school goat, spray-painting obscene images in the staff room door, and - let me see, oh yes - substituting potassium for sodium in one of Mrs Brightwell’s chemistry demonstrations, thereby causing a SERIOUS explosion.”
As a result Marcus is sent off to Merlin’s, an unusual school near Stonehenge. The story cleverly examines the reasons behind Marcus’s behaviour as he is encouraged to talk, to share violent emotions and angry outbursts. It’s whilst acting out an angry outburst that Marcus wakes the sleeping giants and starts a whole chain of events.
Based around the myths and legends surrounding Stonehenge, I loved this funny fast moving tale that explored the reasons behind Marcus’s unacceptable behaviour and how it had isolated him. I thoroughly enjoyed the character progression as Marcus learnt to deal with his emotions, trust and rely on others and eventually his discovery of how brave he can be as he negotiates peace.
