In this exhilarating novel, two friends – often in love, but never lovers – come together as creative partners in the world of video game design, where success brings them fame, joy, tragedy, duplicity, and, ultimately, a kind of immortality.

As part of my book club I read this. Enjoyed the story. However, the book had a lot of technical computing narrative that got me slightly lost.
Brilliant! Even if you don't like gaming, this is a masterclass in relationships.
Absolutely loved this wonderful, charming, delightful book. It manages to be both well written and very easy to read and is a truly lovely story. If you're a gamer you'll love it and actually, if you're not a gamer (I'm not) you'll still love it. It follows two people, both gamers, from childhood to middle age as they create games together and build their company. The story had me completely engaged throughout, I found it wholly believable and it left me with a warm fuzzy feeling and an inkling that maybe I'll give gaming a go (I won't, of course). Highly recommended.
