Haroun’s father is the greatest of all storyletters. His magical stories bring laughter to the sad city of Alifbay. But one day something goes wrong and his father runs out of stories to tell. Haroun is determined to return the storyteller’s gift to his father. So he flies off on the back of the Hoopie bird to the Sea of Stories – and a fantastic adventure begins.

This is such a special book that can appeal to both children and adults as it contains wisdom but at the same time is full of magic and the way it combines them is done beautifully. It is a story about Haroun's journey to save his father's ability to tell stories (which is what makes him who he is so). On his journey Haroun meets extraordinary creatures, makes friends and travels to unknown worlds.
It is one of the first books I read to my son and it is one of those books that can be read over and over again, while never becoming mundane.
