A great introduction to the history and impact of the British Empire. Accessible to Year 5 upwards but sometimes feels like it is slightly talking down to the reader

I loved this book. It was a fascinating insight to British empire and colonisation for a child's level.
The book explores how things we commonly see as British, such as tea came to diversify Britain through trade of the British empire. Furthermore why empire and it's treasures are not necessarily taught at school history level.

This book had a unique concept, the British Empire and dug deep into its not well-known secrets. Teaching the readers about many objects derived from this Empire, it provides great knowledge about this important period in history.

A really engaging and accessible introduction to the British Empire. It clearly introduces concepts such as Imperialism, Colonialism, Repatriation and Reparations and highlights some key people who built and also challenged the Empire. Stolen History shows how the British Empire shaped some of our towns and cities such as Bristol, Liverpool and Lancashire and how it still affects many of our everyday words , food and place names. The tone is kept light and the book is illustrated with drawings by Jen Khatun. I really liked the call to action in the final chapter with suggestions for how to question and discuss the British Empire in school and a booklist for further reading.
