Happy time travelling ~
fast paced once you get into it, great characters and I really enjoyed that the future was more how we imagine the past and this idea of a future society without tech was really interesting. Ocean is a good lead character, lovely family portrayal too
Good, I guess
In 2023 Thomas’ Australian cousin Kylie has invented a time tablet that she believes will allow communication with people 402 years in the future. The future isn’t what anyone expected though and Kylie's invention works somewhat differently to how she intended. After an asteroid carrying a germ hits the earth the population dwindles from billions down to a few million, technology is gone and much of the earth is flooded and uninhabitable.
With characters in two time zones, 2023 and 2425 but in the same place, Newcastle-upon-Tyne the story is cleverly written as the differences in time are explored and solutions sought. The characters are great, believable, colourful and fun, however there is also a great deal of irritating language with the characters in the future speaking differently, often dropping the first syllables of words such as ‘citing and ‘cept which make it a harder read than it needs to be.
