The start of a thrilling new World War Two mystery series from the number-one-bestselling and multi-award-winning author of Murder Most Unladylike.
1940. The world is at war, and a secret arm of the British government called the Ministry of Unladylike Activity is training up spies.
Enter May Wong: courageous, stubborn, and desperate to help end the war so that she can go home to Hong Kong (and leave her annoying school, Deepdean, behind forever). May knows that she would make the perfect spy. After all, grown-ups always underestimate children like her.
When May and her friend Eric are turned away by the Ministry, they take matters into their own hands. Masquerading as evacuees, they travel to Elysium Hall, home to the wealthy Verey family – including snobby, dramatic Nuala. They suspect that one of the Vereys is passing information to Germany. If they can prove it, the Ministry will have to take them on.
But there are more secrets at Elysium Hall than May or Eric could ever have imagined.
And then, someone is murdered…

I loved this book, it is fast paced , light hearted and considered
It is told from 2 points of view: Fionuala O’Malley & May Wong. (If you have read the murder most unladylike books, May is Hazels youngest sister)
It is a brilliant murder mystery totally recommend! :)
I ABSOLUTELY ADORE THIS SERIES! Robin Stevens writes them so well! My favourite character in this book is Hazel, because she's still the same even as she's grown up, and Eric because hes Eric! I would recommend this to anyone who likes historical fiction and murder mystery!

It is very interesting how they all have there own stories
I loved it robin Stevens’s is an amazing author
AMAZING!
I think it was amazing and very hard to figure out the murderer I didn’t get it right and there were so many twists. I would highly recommend
Whilst not based on actual people or events, I love that Robin Stevens has included a section (Author’s Note) that includes information about World War 2 that many children won’t know.
The book itself is a real page turner and I have to say I didn’t work out who the murderer was! I enjoyed the multi-narrator style and the moments of emotion amongst the adventure.
Love this book since I love mystery
My favourite character was May Wong because she's really smart and is sometimes annoying! I enjoyed this book because it revealed a lot of family secrets to help solve the case and makes the three friends become top secret spies.
The Ministry of Unladylike Activity is One of a kind
A good murder mystery book for children. Great characters and a very enjoyable setting. I didn't guess who the murderer was!
