If you enjoy taut psychological thrillers, this could be right up your street. The book was described by one reviewer as "sublimely creepy" and the film is due to be released later this year (2026). Lowen Ashleigh takes a job to complete the remaining books in a bestselling series, which the severely injured author (Verity) is unable to finish. Sorting through the notes and outlines in Verity’s office before she gets started, Lowen finds Verity's unfinished autobiography, which is full of bone-chilling admissions and family secrets. Now Lowen must decide whether to reveal what she’s discovered. This is well written but I found some of the subject matter so difficult it was a hard book to read. On that basis I'm only awarding 3-Stars, but without the grim bits I’d have given it 4 Stars.

Incredibly written, so many twists and turns, extremely descriptive, I loved the extra released chapter, switched my thoughts of the whole book.
It was full of twists and turns; especially the stair case part!
So intense. Could not put the book down.
Fiction, I found it very gripping. Still not sure whether the character was lying or telling the truth!
Could not put this down. Didn't want it to end. You reach the last page and are still undecided of the real truth. This is a game changer. Hoover's writing is amazing!
