It was Benjamin Postlethwaite’s job all his long life to make sure the light shone brightly high up in the lighthouse on Puffin Island. Not once in all his years as the lighthouse keeper had he ever let his light go out. But sometimes even the brightest light on a lighthouse cannot save a ship.
This is a story of a life-changing friendship, a lost puffin, and a lonely artist. It’s the story of an entire lifetime, and how one event can change a life forever. From masterful storyteller, Michael Morpurgo, and world-class illustrator, Benji Davies, comes a magical new story. This truly beautiful tale will enchant readers of all ages.

I liked the relationship that was nurtured between the boy and the lighthouse keeper. It was heartwarming and my love for the characters grew as I progressed through the book.
Cleverly written to help you get a real understanding of the characters thought and feelings. Nice, easy read.
I really enjoyed this book and I really liked it when they let the puffin go.
It is interesting as it was all about the puffin.
Really simple but good story. Would have loved to find out a bit more about the puffin keeper but overall the book is a joy to read.
I loved the illustrations but the story could have been better and not as sad.
I love this book I nearly know it of by heart.Michael Morpurgo is the best!
This is the story about an old man called Benjamin, saves a ship called the Pelican struggling through the strongest waves in the tough storm near his island. Using his lighthouse, he takes his small boat to save all 32 people on the boat. The 5 year old who was saved all the way back in 1926 comes back to visit him after growing up.
I loved the pictures and it was fun!
I liked this book and would recommend it.
This was a beautiful book and it made me feel happy but sad too. It’s about a lighthouse keeper who saves people in a boat in a storm. One boy remembers it forever and so goes to live there when he is older. He is known as the Puffin Keeper because he looks after the Puffins, not the lighthouse.
I love the puffins!
I loved this gentle book, the quiet, unassuming, kind characters and the beautiful illustrations. I enjoyed reading this at ‘reading club’ at my son’s bedtime.
Great story especially for those who enjoy a slightly shorter chapter book. Sometimes even a lighthouse isn't enough to prevent a tragedy. An excellent story about a life-changing event that built a powerful friendship spanning a lifetime. Add in a cute, hurt puffin and Morpurgo's talent for hooking you in with his pace and beautiful language choices. Lovely, short read.
The story was immaculate and I could see the characters in my mind.
This book is the best. It was interesting and really good and full of great adventures. It was amazing.
I liked the boy and the puffin keeper
I enjoyed this read although at some point it becomes a bit sad. I liked that people made friendships and I liked when the puffin keeper saved the boy, but that was part of the sad bit. I would recommend it to my friends!
Interesting
I liked Benjamin. I don't think it was factual and I liked it because it had puffins in it and I love wildlife. Yes I've recommended it to my friends.
Good book but not my type of book.
The Puffin Keeper was really nice and I enjoyed it a lot. My favourite character was Ben.I would defiantly recommend this to other people
Very good.
we saw real puffins. They are so cute and one went on daddy's foot.
I liked this book because it is all about animals and how they live. It was also a nice story about people.
I really liked this book. I like that when the boy comes back when he is an adult the puffin still remembers him. I would recommend this book to a friend.
This is a great book. I liked it alot. And that
Ben is a great 👨🎨 painter.
I enjoyed the book and the beautiful illustrations.
I wish that there was a second puffin keeper

I learnt that it’s hard to say goodbye to your family, but you always know they’re still there.
