A very good book but too much blood!

My favourite character was mouse because she was very brave but I also thought that Valentina should have been the hero because she was a little bit braver and a lot smarter. And she was perfect at everything even lying. I would recommend this book to people who like fantasy adventure books. I think people from the ages of 9 up would love this book.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Found it unputdownable which was appreciated as the 8yo gained an extra pool hour! Heard good things, so glad it met expectations. Can think of so many pupils who will love the gritty nature of the story.

I read this in one sitting as I could not put it down. Filled with twists and turns, I found myself willing the tenacious Mouse to successfully solve the mystery. I will definitely be buying a copy for our school library.

She may be called Mouse but this young girl has the heart of a lion. She is tenacious and brave.

She lives with the Hawkin's family in The Moth theatre alongside a river during the time of the fictional Queen Anne 2nd. The Moth is a wooden covered theatre and the family and the actors live inside. There is Walter, Ambrose and Valentina as well as Mr and Mrs Hawkin, Eve and Adam.

Walter rushes into the theatre covered in blood, he says he has seen a lady who was murdered, but the agents following him think he's the killer. Walter hides but the agents know he came in and they find him. They take him away and put him into prison. The Lady is an agent of the Queen, Lady Grey.

Kwadwo is the other member of the crew, he's a runaway hiding in the theatre and mending and cooking for the theatre. He gives Mouse food to take to Walter but the first time it all gets tipped on the floor as other prisoners try to grab it. After that Mouse takes a catapult and small stones and sings a song. This works and Walter gets the food.

Mouse is determined to get Walter out. She finds out that the agents who arrested Walter have a witness. However, Valentina is acting very odd and keeps getting Mousse to do things that she says will help Walter. But on one occasion Mouse is nearly caught by the agents carrying three small bottles Valentina sent her to collect, the agents were waiting for her but she gives them the slip. Mouse is now suspicious of the bottles and she tips out the contents and fills them with sugar water.

Valentina continues to suggest ways to help Walter and one of them is to get the Queen to the theatre so that Mouse can ask that she pardon Walter. A good idea.

Then there is Valentina's friend Captain Teach from the Running Stag ship. Who is he? What is Valentina paying him for? Then Ambrose is killed and the witness.

The book I have is an advance copy. The cover for the actual book looks even better!
This is an amazing book. The fact that the heroine is called Mouse is quite amusing, because she certainly is no mouse!
