Welcome to your new fantasy obsession . . .
In a world where anyone can create life-destroying curses, only one person has the power to unravel them.
Kellen does not fully understand his talent, but uses it to help those who have been cursed, including his ally and closest friend, Nettle. But Kellen himself is cursed, and unless he and Nettle can release him, he is in danger of unravelling everything – and everyone – around him.
For fans of Leigh Bardugo and Neil Gaiman comes Frances Hardinge’s spectacular novel Unraveller. Called her ‘best yet’ by the Guardian, Hardinge expertly weaves together mythology and mystery in a richly-detailed world besieged by curses.
‘Exquisite . . . sheer perfection’– Liz Hyder, author of The Gifts
‘Instantly engrossing, effortlessly clever, and completely magical’ – Freya Marske

I love the way Frances weaves a story and this was no exception with a rich setting and alternate reality and really likeable characters and a good few twists of the plot too.
This was a fiction book, targeted for young adults, and my favourite characters were Yannick, Leona, Harland, the Little Brothers, and especially Nettle. I would recommend this book a million times over, but it is not very suitable for younger readers. It paints a deliciously creepy picture of a land where cursers exist, written like a delicately woven tapestry, exploring themes that adults would definitely understand better, but still a web of myths that anyone can enjoy. Perhaps the only children centered thjing about it is the vaguely happy ending. Some of my favourite quotes about this book are "Everyone should read Frances Hardinge. Everyone. Right now." from Patrick Ness, author of 'A monster calls', and "A novel by Hardinge is always an event." from The Sunday Times. Frances Hardinge has written many acclaimed books, perhaps her most famous being 'The Lie Tree'. She has won the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award, the Costa Book of the Year Award and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, and has been shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal, the Independent Bookshop Week Award and the Guardian Children's Fiction Prize.
Well written, full of exciting action. It's a great fantasy adventure. Great lesson in Karma. Definitely recommend.
