I really enjoyed this story! I love how Harrison solved mysteries by using his drawings
Harrison discovered who was the thief of the Atlas diamond and got a dog as a pet. I would recommend this book to people who like mystery stories.
A fun exciting book about a robbery on a train solved by two kids one of which was my favourite character a girl called Lenny who is a bit of a rebel.
I enjoyed it so much I've already finished the next book.
I highly recommend.
A great little mystery which leaves you guessing who the thief could be. A very unexpected twist at the end too!
This mystery/ adventure book speaks about a boy called Harrison who was a very brainy detective solving the case of missing jewellery from the magpie theft. A very nice story of insight investigations.
Brilliant first book of the adventures on trains series.
I liked Harrison and Lenny because they solved the mystery of who stole Lydia Pickles brooch and the atlas diamond (the expensivest diamond in the world )which the princess wore.I would definitely recommend this book because it was very exciting and I was eager to find out what happened next. If like trains or mystery stories or both then this is a perfect book to read.
I loved the mystery.
This was a great book. The best ever
Amazing
This book is very interesting and exciting.
The 1st book in the series, Harrison isn't that happy to go on a train adventure with his Uncle Nat.
But he doesn't know that trouble is soon going to be brewing up on the tracks, yet.
I love murder mystery books and this was one of the best ones I have read. My favourite character would be Lenny as she had the nerve to board the real train without anyone noticing (except for Hal) but I also like Hal for being bold and saving Lenny without the police spotting him.
a mystery that starts off small but gets larger when the biggest perfect diamond in the world is stolen.
A really good read
When eleven-year-old Harrison Hal Beck is forced to accompany his travel-writer uncle on the last journey of a royal train, he expects a boring trip spent away from video games and children his age.
But then Hal spots a girl who should not be on board, and he quickly makes friends with the stowaway, Lenny. Things get even more interesting when the royal prince and princess board for the last leg of the journey--because the princess's diamond necklace is soon stolen and replaced with a fake! Suspicion falls on the one person who isn't supposed to be there: Lenny.
It's up to Hal, his keen observation, and his skill as a budding sketch artist to uncover the real jewel thief, clear his friend's name, and return the diamond necklace before The Highland Falcon makes its last stop
I enjoyed this book. It was the second time I had read it . I really recommend it.
it was a very interesting story.
I liked Hal the most.
A super exciting mystery book telling you facts about trains at the same time. Brilliant!
It was a GREAT detective book
It is a GREAT detective nook
great adventure and mystery story with a good twist
This book is always very popular in our library so I decided to give it a try. As a bit of a train fan I really enjoyed how the novel balanced telling an engaging tale alongside accurate and interesting facts about steam engines and rail travel. This story was exciting and very readable and I can see why it is so frequently in demand! My one quibble is with the illustrations, as while they're very charming, they are not wholly accurate to the tale - for example, dogs described as samoyeds in the text look like a completely different breed, and outfits are illustrated differently to how they are described. That being said, they still look fantastic, and are as lively and delightful as the story itself.
My favourite characters are Harrison Beck and his uncle Nathaniel. This book is about action and adventure. Harrison finds himself in the middle of the operation with his friend Lenny who is the train driver‘s daughter and a stowaway. I would recommend it to every single person.
The first book in the 'Adventures on Trains' series, it is a mystery set on the final tour of a steam train, the 'Highland Falcon', round Britain. There are lots of interesting characters on board, including a prince and princess (William and Kate? but without children!), a stowaway - and a jewel thief! It was a fast moving story, with lots of information about steam trains, but I thought it was a little lacking in suspense. Nevertheless, I'll be recommending it to my regular borrowers
Amazing
I loved this book.I liked the way Hal and Lenny are willing to do whatever it takes to stop the thief: that is true determination.
This book is a super fun novel with mystery, steam trains, and Samoyeds.
Well this book includes a made up train that is unbelievable a boy who doesn’t like trains but changed on this journey and a mysterious jewel thief
This is one of the best books that I have ever read. it has loads of mystery and dectective work and proves that kids can do the same work as adults can. I reccomend this book to 9-10 year olds
