Although this is an interesting spin on genders roles and who has the power, I found it hard to engage. Parts were great, others a bit obvious.

This is a YA dystopian novel where gender roles are reversed. Women rule what appears to be a post apocalyptic city. Boys are either destined for the mines, or must be beautiful and talented enough to be auctioned to the rich women. I loved how the story picked up on little things - things women have heard, or experienced and accepted - for example “don’t worry your pretty little head about it”. Grrr.
I gave 4/5 because it did flit a bit. It would have benefited from a little more background info. However, it is WELL worth a read. Please give it a go.

I really enjoyed this take on a dystopian society run by women. The characters were interesting and I liked the rebellious nature of some of the main protagonists. It was a fascinating exploration of gender roles and expectations from a perspective I haven't considered or read before. I would recommend this to anyone who likes dystopian fiction with a feminist element.
