The Ickabog is coming… A mythical monster, a kingdom in peril, an adventure that will test two children’s bravery to the limit. Discover a brilliantly original fairy tale about the power of hope and friendship to triumph against all odds, from one of the world’s best storytellers.
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustaches you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them.
Everything was perfect – except for the misty Marshlands to the north which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth, to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.
Could a myth unseat a beloved king? Could a myth bring a once happy country to its knees? Could a myth thrust two children into an adventure they didn’t ask for and never expected?
If you’re feeling brave, step into the pages of this book to find out…

I like the story and what happens in the book.
It was great.
Very descriptive, interesting story. I love how they use children’s illustrations within the book.
An amazing book. I was especially impressed by the wonderful names of the cities. Cornucopia a word meaning a great bounty perfectly hidden within the book and a perfect word for the country. Ickerby a beautiful and apt name for the city. I also enjoyed the descriptions especially of the pastries.
Insane! It’s a mix of good and bad. The king has no
idea what is going on as he has been tricked by his two lords.
In this book Inkabog is a monster that Marshlander people feared because of missing sheep .There was once a king who was called king Fred the Fearless for just hitting a wasp. He had two friends who always went hunting with him .One who was fat and the other was thin and wise. That was just before the horror came about the Inkabog.
I thought it was a really nice book but i think king Fred the fearles two friends are too evil and its a bit annoying how quickly they reveal the solution and the whole mystery but overall i really like the characters and my favourite is king Fred the fearles getting his name from defeating a bee all by himself (minus the help of the butler and paper boy)
I would recommend this book to someone who likes adventures.
I thought this is the best fantasy book ANYONE could read.
I Liked the character Daisy because she was very brave. I would recommend this book to anyone.
It is such an emotional rollercoaster that can not be put down. It is such a great book that I will never forget, and will always be willing to read . I am one of J.K Rowling's biggest fans. Such a good but sad book.
Mysterious and perfect for reading short chapters at bedtime or lots of chapters all at once!
The King and his Lords are trying to hunt down the Ickabog.
Favourite character is Daisy Dovetail, for her unfaltering sense of self and standing up for what she believes in with positivity and determination in the face of adversity. I expect this will be turned in to an epic children's adventure film. It was illustrated by children, which I feel is a fantastic touch. It comments on a lot of the darkness in our world and really reveals some of the worst traits of humankind, whilst also drawing light to redeeming characteristics that are embodied by characters such as Lady Eslanda and Captain Goodfellow. I may suggest that it is suitable for children aged 11+, due to the themes of death and suffering...
My favourite character is Daisy. I loved all the children's drawings and the lovely story.
heart warming tale
love the ending
I would rate it a six star but that’s not possible. This book was amazing and I wish I could red it for the fist time again
If you like the Harry Potter books you will certianly like the this book
amazing fantastic spellbound wonderful
A slow start but a good adventure in the end.
The Ickabog is a big kind monster that can speak human. I would recommend it to somebody else because Daisy, Burt, Rodrick, and Martha are all caring and kind.
This is the story of an evil manipulative Lord who was overcome by the least likely Hero’s bravery. The story is so captivating that I couldn’t stop reading it and the characters are amazing. My favourite character was Martha because in truth she was very kind.
the Ickabog made me feel like i was in the story.
I found this book very exciting. It had twists and turns and just when I thought the villains couldn't get any smarter, that's exactly what they did! My favourite character is Daisy. She is so caring but very quick witted.
It was very cunning and crafty but gruesome as well.
I had the most wonderful time reading this it was full of fun suprises and action.
My favourite character was either Martha, Daisy, Hettie or Lady Eslanda. I don't know how to explain it, I just really enjoyed it
The Ickabog is a very exciting book written J.K Rowling, the author of Harry Potter. It is about how a Lord lies to get rich and famous and he blames it on a so called "fake" monster, but is this creature really real? My favourite character was Daisy because she was brave and friendly to the Ickabog. I would recommend this book to people who love thrilling adventures as this story goes from one place to another.
Where are you little king??
I liked The Ickabog. My favourite character was Daisy as she was determined to make friends with the Ickabog and protect it.
A life story with lots of learning. Don't tell lies and don't judge something or someone who never meet . The two boys and the the girl.Daisy are absolute very brave by the end
