From the author of Escape Room, science and laugh combine in this out-of-this-world adventure, featuring illustrations by Ben Mantle! ‘[A] warm, funny alien read’ VASHTI HARDY ’A bright, brainy book’ THE TIMES You might think that this story is going to be an intergalactic adventure filled with UFOs, black holes, killer robots and some very foul-smelling aliens. And you’d be right. But it’s mostly about a boy called Jake, his embarrassing dad, and the mind-boggling question … are we really alone in the universe? Funny, easy to read and hugely likeable, Space Oddity combines science, comedy and adventure for ages 7 and up. A new, younger story from award-winning writer Christopher Edge, author of The Infinite Lives of Maisie Day. Came out of The Big Idea Competition, from a story entry by scientist Dr Sarah Ryan. Cover and inside illustrations by Ben Mantle (The Land of Roar and I, Cosmo). Tweet

I like the mystery
I don’t know how to explain but it deserves a 5 star
It's a fiction book . I liked Jake's dad because he was an Alien and he arrived earth 12 years ago.It was not much good as i thought but it's a good book for fiction lovers. I will recommend it for fiction loving children
Dad was my favourite character. Because he was actually an alien. And he met his wife when she knocked him over after his space ship crashed
This books was quite intriguing as it had many unexpected twists and funny parts to humour the reader. It may be fiction, however some parts were factual and and taught me new things I never knew about space. I love how the son and father become closer and create a crazy yet sweet bond together. I would recommend this to my friends as I think this is the perfect book for them.
A good read
It is my type of book because I like aliens .
I really enjoyed this book, I highly recommend this book because it is very funny and cool.
Action packed fun adventure !
I enjoyed this book, as i'm very interested in space and it was fun to read alongside my parents, my favorite Characters were Jake and his dad.
Exciting
This story is about a boy who is always embarrassed by his dad's weird behaviour. It is fairly obvious thatbhis dad is not of this world although I wonder if this might be seen as a twist by young readers.
I liked this story and, from a teaching point of view, there are some uses of interesting vocabulary that could be shared with a Year 3/4 class.
Jake thinks his Dad is SO embarrassing, but life gets even worse when he discovers that he is actually an alien! A very silly story with lots of excitement and slapstick plus a smattering of science and a message about how we live on earth. A simple story for upper primary/lower secondary. Less challenging in terms of content, themes and reading level than Christopher Edge's other space/physics stories.
This is an enjoyable read for LKS2 children. A less intense read than Christopher Edge's other books, this is a story of fast-paced, high-stakes action with a humorous edge (pardon the pun) throughout.
